QuoteDURHAM — A former University of New Hampshire student was arrested Thursday for allegedly claiming to be the man responsible for the Halloween night assault that left one student seriously injured.

Police say that Scott B. Holbrook, 23, of 245 Jobin Drive in Manchester, identified himself fictitiously on a social networking site claiming to be the person responsible for the assault....

Altogether, Holbrook is charged with hindering apprehension/prosecution, unsworn falsification, disorderly conduct and criminal defamation. Holbrook turned himself into police on Thursday and was released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail.

If "unsworn falsification" is, in any general sense, criminal, then we are going to have to increase our internet thought-police by about a hundred fold.
