Today, I managed to make a bunch of silly decisions. On my way back from the anti-war protest, I tried to get up the driveway with my 2WD Element.

I failed, and I tried to turn around to park and walk it.

I failed again.

Tony came out to my place in a wonderful fit of coincidence. I even opened the front door as he was knocking.

We shoveled and tried in vein to get the snow out from under my car, and as we pushed on that damn thing, we got it free. Lindsay coasted and drove and then.. ditched herself again. :P

As Tony left, I got a little grumpy. See, when I'm frustrated, I feel vulnerable. Or maybe it's the other way around. Either way, as he was leaving he suggested asking the neighbors for a rope. I felt scared and nervous, and I insulently waved him away, saying "I was fine!'

About 45 minutes later, I saw headlights pull into my driveway. IT WAS TONY!

And out popped Mike Barskey.

And then a ball of chains!

Mike hopped in my car as Tony pulled it free from it's Chaber of Despair that was the ditch.

You guys saved me in a very personable way.

I don't want to pretend it was anything other than that.

I'm home. I'm home! Tony came out to Manchester today to protest the war, and that means a world to me, but Tony and Mike both came out today when I was feeling PERSONALLY vulnerable. They pullled me out of a ditch so that I could drive to the store and buy beer, of all things.

Guys...

You are so much more to me than activists. You are my friends. Truly. Deeply. Thank you.

OK, here are some liberty activists I'd like to thank for various things over the past 5 years.  I've undoubtedly left some out, and don't mean any slight by it; this is the best my chemically-damaged brain can do:

thanks to Kat, Russell, Mincin and Joel for making me feel not just welcomed, but *wanted*, to move to NH at my first Porcupine meetup, before I'd even moved here  :grouphug:

thanks to Morey for helping to move my stuph into storage in Kalifornia, for lying on the pavement for hours painting an FSP banner, for hanging out on a freeway overpass breathing exhaust fumes while holding up the other end of said banner, and for being the other half of the Northern California Porcupines in a hostile, socialist environment

thanks to Karl for providing me with a landing place in the Free State (and he never did cash the last rent check!)  :ahoy:

thanks to Karl, Murphy, Bender, arick and so-sorry-I-know-I'm-forgetting-a-couple for carrying my meager home furnishings up the stairs of Porc Manor North   :homework:

thanks to the McGuires for pitying me for my pathetic foam bedroll and actually GIVING me their bed, gratis  :icon_cheers:

thanks to technigrrl for helping me get a job  :nerd:

thanks to Joel for seeing something in this neurotically shy, introverted geek that I didn't see in myself and encouraging me to lead the MVP. People from my past would never, ever believe I would be standing up in a bar in front of 50 ornery, gun-toting libertarians, cracking jokes, and occasionally telling them to STFU and wait their turn (or, in Russell's case, actually smacking him upside the head).   :blah_by_sarrlas_emotes:

thanks to muni for my first-ever campaign contribution (and I wasn't even running for anything!)   :_The_Leprechaun_Life__by_Jord

thanks to the McGuires (again), the Converses, Babiarz, Llloyd and PatK for carrying my stuph up the stairs to the Nausea Bachelorette Pad (and Llloyd and PatK drove all the way from Rogers to do so!!!)   :iroc:

thanks to FTLMark and crew for kicking out the jams and putting the First1000 campaign over the top in the final hour   :brave:

thanks to Joel and Amy for letting me share their wedding day (the YMCA performance, and the male stripping, were unforgettable)   :love1:

thanks to Varrin who, while we had our differences and I undoubtedly was a pain in his ass on numerous occasions, took the time out of his uber-busy schedule to sit with me in a cafe and do an "exit interview" to try to understand my disgruntlement with the FSP leadership   8)

thanks to Denis for being man enough to call and apologize for bad behavior.  Everyone is an ass sometimes; not everyone owns up to it.   :hug45:

thanks to many people for kind words on my blog   :)

thanks to Triple-L and Shuvom for letting me share their wedding day  :love1:

thanks to dreepa for endless energy, optimism, and actually thinking misanthropy is an endearing quality   :bdance2:

thanks to Tony and Porcupine Kate for patiently and gently teaching me how to handle firearms   :fencing:

thanks to Anonymous, who had flowers delivered to my doorstep that time   :flower:

thanks to Tom Sawyer for designing the gorgeous banner for the No RealID in New Hampshire rally   :hippy2:

thanks to MengerFan for amazing generosity in sponsoring the 2008 PorcFest Fun tent (and I'm drinking from a SakalCAI mug while typing this)   :occasion14:

thanks to Jim Johnson for graciously hosting, and cooking for, a Misfit Thanksgiving, *while his wife was in jail*   :piecon:

thanks to Jim, Lauren, Tom Sawyer, the President and crue for throwing me the best 40th birthday party a girl ever had    :party-smiley-020:

thanks to JJ for putting up with a workaholic prone to violent mood swings and general crankiness

thanks to the PorcupineRealtor for spending over a year helping me obtain the Freehold   :mf_farmer:

thanks to a whole bunch of people for helping me move into the Freehold and SO sorry if I left anyone out: the Levells, PorcupineRealtor, Maria, Barskey, MTPorcupine, Glenn, Jim n' Lauren, the Kannings, LPNH Andrew, JJ, dalebert, Alec, Tom Sawyer, Becky Thatcher, the President    :_WeightOfTheWorld__by_Ugghhzi

Yes, that's Varrin, Cal, Russell and myself doing YMCA as 'strippers' for Amy.

That's because you're a good writer, and funny, and I always look forward to the next entry, no matter how long it's been.

And just a quick thanks to you, because you are one of the folks who make the Free State such a great place... you have taken on frustrating jobs when nobody else would, and went unthanked in some cases, and that shouldn't have happened.  We need more thank you threads, that's for sure.

wow, Friday, that was a big list!  :D  You must have been holding all that in for a while!

MTPorcupine3

While we're on a roll, I thank all those who came to my rescue when I gost stranded in Concord yesterday: Mike B., John B., Kat & Russell, and Solar Bob. Thank goodness for Porc 411, and by extension, its creator Mike H.
