Who wants to jump in the ocean on December 31, 2009? I do! Let's have a New Year's Polar Plunge. Some of us did it last year on December 31, when Will "Walk For Liberty" Buchanan touched the Atlantic Ocean to finish his journey and begin his life in NH. Let's make it a tradition. Let's ring in the new calendar with a splash - an icy-cold splash.

I'd love to have a party afterwards, but I don't have a venue. If someone can think of a restaurant or club or someplace to hang out and eat and party after the Polar Plunge, please suggest it.

We'd be willing to host an after-party, but we're almost an hour from the ocean.

Alternately, we could chop hole in the ice in the lake, here, and then have the party afterward.  Might be interesting to have a roaming polar plunge thing, instead of always doing the ocean.

I'll do it if my Christmas present turns out to be a heated drysuit.

Does someone have a map or directions as to the gathering place for this event?

I walk across the USA
Upon a freedom quest,
And as I roam, you'll hear me say,
My porc shirt on my chest:

L- I -B    E -R -T    Y- I -B
1 who walks the walk to talk of
Living free
Liberty
My porc shirt on my chest.

The winds, the hills, each rock and tree,
The sun and stars combine
To show the traits of liberty
In nature's grand design.

L- I -B    E -R -T    Y- I -B
1 who walks the walk to talk of
Living free
Liberty
In nature's grand design.

I tread, with ever-tiring feet,
Along the myriad miles.
For every hostile face I meet,
I see a hundred smiles.

L- I -B    E -R -T    Y- I -B
1 who walks the walk to talk of
Living free
Liberty
I see a hundred smiles.

When, as it must, the long walk ends,
At Hampshire's craggy stone,
I will, with freedom-loving friends,
No longer walk alone.

L- I -B    E -R -T    Y- I -B
1 who walks the walk to talk of
Living free
Liberty
No longer walk alone.

I'll know, the day I sink my toes
In chill Atlantic foam,
However far the long road goes,
My journey led me home.

L- I -B    E -R -T    Y- I -B
1 who walks the walk to talk of
Living free
Liberty
My journey led me home.

Hampton Beach is not that big.  If you can't see your friends, just follow the screams.   :D

By the way, that neighborhood is a ghosttown in the winter.  I strongly suggest identifying a pizza place (or whatever) that's open BEFORE jumping into the ocean mostly nekkid.

Here are directions from Keene, and here are directions from Winchester (both routes are ~2 hours).

Friday's right: you can see all of Hampton Beach from any part of it, so you can't miss us, especially since Hampton is a ghost town and there will likely be no other cars parks there, let alone another motorhome. :)

Also, though we're still meeting at Hampton Beach, Todd suggested Jeness beach slightly north of there because it's a shorter walk between the water and the car. He also suggested some places to hang out afterwards: check out the comments on the Facebook Event wall. We can decide when we get to Hampton Beach if we want to jump in there or go to Jeness beach.

See you later!

Whadda mean "mostly"?

I jumped into the Atlantic Ocean, naked, and I liked it.   ;D
