cool

the ice rink is holding up
Really?  Is this a Cardinal Kanning prognostication?  :cardinal:

By this weekend, temps will have been well above freezing every day for over a week.  Call me a wuss, but I'm not standing on top of a pond with 30 other adults.   :dontknow:

The dollar store only had 5 brooms left but I got 'em.

It has been warm lately and this has been a concern of mine as well. How deep is this lake?

You can drown in 1 inch of water.
A girls broomball team beat me up when I was nineteen.
People in Hawaii laughed at me when wore a colorful Kama'aina outfit.
Something about pigs that I can't remember...

I'm hoping this event will make everything better again.  :)
I'm bring Lauren and Richard.

well let's see .... when i said the ice rink was holding up ..... i was looking at it
today i blew some snow off of it ... so i know there is still ice there.
I would guess the slightly mild weather for the next couple of days will not make a dent in a few inches of ice
it is also colder here at 800 feet than some other places

you guys are killing me ;D

if we  decide the puddle out back will work .... it has no water underneath. It formed when it rained that one day in january .... the next day it froze and any water underneath disappeared and it sank some. it had 3 inches or so of ice when i was out there today

if we end up needing to go to grafton pond .... it is quite deep. We would play near the edge nowhere near the outlet or any incoming streams ..... I also will not be walking on water unless i have about 6 inches of ice to hold me up.

Broomball is obviously not for the faint of heart. >:D

i have some potential bad news ... we are playing grass skirts against hawaiian shirts ... so we might get beaten by the women like we did in tug of war

Since I can not attend, there will be much less stress
on the ice.

I think the women should reenact the broomball beating of Jim. ;D

Kat Kanning

Was this broom-beating andthing like browbeating?

I guess broken glasses and and a black eye can be considered a browbeating.

Mike, have these very important urgent questions regarding this event been answered?:

1) If someone falls through the 3 inches of ice, do you have at least 6 inches of rope to "rescue" them?

2) Will black taping of brooms be allowed (putting black tape on hockey sticks is common practice, but?)

3)  Will there be any Referees and are they certified by the National Broom Hockey Association?

4) Will there be a Monster Big Screen TV hanging above the playing area so the fans can watch instant replays and see close ups of the players (stats, etc.)?

5) Will there be Vendors selling Alcohol, Popcorn, Hot Chocolate, Team Jerseys, Autographed Player Photos?

6)What exactly is the "puck" to be used for this Sporting Event?

And finally, the most important question I have for you:

7) Is anyone bringing Potato Salad?   :)
