If the Cheshire Ministry of Love is truly privately owned...

Keene police officers (and possibly some of the other officers) repeatedly insisted that the new jail is private property, owned by the county commissioners. If it's private property, then there must be a tax bill attached, right?

So, I took a look at the property value. According to the City of Keene, the property at 825 Marlboro Road is owned by "Cheshire County", with a land value of $473,400, with zero exempt for current use. The building value is $15,249,600, for a total taxable value of $15,723,000.

At the 2009 rate of $28.80 per thousand, this means "Cheshire County", owners of that "private property", will owe the City of Keene $452,822.40 in property tax. Does anyone know if those "owners" (John Pratt, Stillman Rogers, and Roger Zerba) wrote a check for $226,411.20 by the March 1 deadline?

You should post that as a comment to some of the online newspaper articles.

If Cheshire Ministry of Love is truly privately owned, then they must have payed the property tax. If they did not pay the tax, then it's truly public property.

If they are private property and the court rules that they do not have to pay property tax, then no one else has to pay taxes on their private property.  ;D

Anyone who was arrested should use this as evidence, if they decide to show up for their "trial(s)"
