I know someone with a Trebuchet

Me, too. It's even big enough to launch me, I think, though I may weigh too much for it. :) Besides, I'd have to be launched a couple hundred feet, then someone would have to drag the Trebuchet over and reload and relaunch me, again and again all the way across the country and back. It's not a very efficient way to travel. Maybe if I start the Liberty Trebuchet trip now, I can join the Liberty Caravan 2012 movement. :)

There's a much bigger one in Greenfield

and it's for rent  :icon_pirat:

2012 is coming, start right a-way!
Get yourself a seat upon the tre-bu-chet!
You can travel just about a mile a day!

I haven't seen my friend's treb, but her description leads me to believe it's smaller than this one. This one's big enough that if I start now, I'll be able to join the Liberty Caravan 2011, not 2012! Excellent planning!

It was dalebert's idea. Credit where credit is due.

And it's retired.

And it's wheeled.

And the crew is awesome.

And yes, while I have it on (somewhat) good authority than it's larger than the other trebuchet referenced here, I would think the smaller version could be more travel-friendly ... think hand cannon vs. actual cannon.

Speaking of cannons ... those are fun, too. I wonder if everybody's friend has access to one? :)

Don't tell me people are now also wanting to shoot Mike Barskey out of a cannon.

Now there's a more practical solution.  :icon_pirat:

Oh! I wasn't proposing that. I was speaking to the topic of the treb and my train of thought went to cannons.

If Barskey's willing to take a ride on a treb, perhaps he'd be up to launch out of a cannon, too? Instead?

(Barskey?) ;D

It could be a lucrative fund-raiser ...

With the overwhelming representation of geeks in the FSP movement, surely we can come up with a way to launch Barskey from a rail gun. "Cannon" is so 14th Century (and I'm an old Redleg, myself).

dalebert

The cannon is obviously the more humane solution because you can aim them better.

Lloyd Danforth

True. We wouldn't want any innocent people hurt.

shyfrog

I don't know why we're wasting time talking about this anymore. Barskey has free-will. The law of gravity has no jurisdiction over him. It's a stupid law anyway.

I have a poster which says, "Gravity: Its not just a good idea, Its the law."
