I suggest you guys get in touch with these people, they could be allies, and I'm sure they would appreciate the help.

FREEDOM, N.H. Police say a three-day search at a 20-acre mushroom farm in Freedom (New Hampshire) led to a major marijuana bust.
The farm's owners, 41-year-old Christopher McGarvey and 45-year-old Dianna Franke were arrested Monday and charged with manufacture of a controlled drug.

On Wednesday, the charges were ramped up to include possession with intent to distribute.

A search involving about 25 police officers from nine departments discovered rows of marijuana buds draped on racks in a drying room in a barn, according to court records. The plant also was discovered inside a bedroom, bathroom and camper on the property.

Freedom police Chief Charles Pearson says McGarvey's mushroom business was legitimate, and that no illegal varieties of fungi were found.

McGarvey and Franke are scheduled to appear in court on October 14th.

The best way to do FIJA is to wind up on a jury. The only way to get on a jury is to register to vote.  ;)

I think we should contact any decent person convicted of minor victimless crimes and start a dialog with them.

Agreed.  Plus, if this guy was any good he's likely got some money stashed away that he could use to fight with...

Ian, you should call him, tell him to call into Free TAlk Live, and then tell him to call the local radio stations in his area.

Connecticut also uses DMV records for jury pool.

His voicemail thing wouldn't let me leave a message.. maybe not out of jail yet?

Eli

When the trial comes around someone should remind the jurors that Jury nullification is a right and sacred duty.

JonM

You could always hang around outside courthouses.  When they're short jury members they have been known to pluck people off the street.

Dave Ridley

can someone pm me any contact info you have on the growers?   they could at least use some moral support (tho it may be tentative since i realize some growers are violent).

FTL_Ian

I found his address and number on switchboard.com but his answering machine told me it was off.

Michael Fisher

If we find out where they're being held, we can contact them in jail.

Unfortunately, jails often filter out mail they don't like, so we would have to find out from Kevin what type of things we can say.

Dave Ridley

pm me the number plz even if its not working now

The basics are easy: no escape plans, nor photos showing pubes.

Now, don't ask me to assure that a local/county jailer won't toss a letter offering help just because he thinks the jailee deserves full punishment. I doubt it (they're mostly too busy, and it's not their fight), but there's the occasional nutball out there.

If you find where the guy is being held, a letter saying, "Hey, we'd like to help with your legal defense; what can we do?" is always in order. Likewise for offers to help look after his home or business, although those may be a "drug bust bonus" for the arresting PD.  >:( >:( >:(
