I need some helpful advice, please!

Last week Rick got into an accident on I-93 and his truck was totaled, he's okay, thank God!

Now he needs to find a, (hopefully), comparable truck with about $4000.   Does anyone know of a good place to look?

He had a '03' Dodge Dakota with about 97k miles or he says he'd be fine with a Toyota Tacoma 4WD, any ideas?

I've been trying to talk him into taking the Toyota Camry and then I can get my Chevy Nova but he wants a truck and I can't blame him.  :)

2001 Toyota Tacoma 4x4, supposedly for sale from a dealer. $3,300.

I'll have more info soon and if it falls through, I'll keep looking. ;)

Thank you so much!  :)   I'll give Rick anything that you come up with, he's looking too but it sure can't hurt to have more options.

H my friend, how are you?
   Well, I'd say, auction.

Rainey seems o be implying that our 'usual'  advice isn't good.

If you're serious about a Taco, be sure to check the frame on it, there have been problems with them rottin out, as all Toyos do, but for a while Toyota was actually buying them back if they were so far gone. Happened to a friend of mine, went in to get tires and an alignment, and the mech. said you'd better come look at this frame, and he poked his finger through it about to the other side. Maybe have it checked out by a 3rd party, certified type person. If there frame is at all in question, I would walk away. I have seen guys fish plate frames on the asian trucks, but wether that is something you would want to get into, i dont know.

Hello, I'm okay.  How are you? :)

I sent all of these posts to Rick, so we'll see what he wants to do, this way if something ends up going wrong I can't get blamed for it.  :D   I still like the idea of him taking the Camry and me getting my Nova but it's a mute issue, I've tried and he's a truck guy.

Nope, not at all!  How would you figure I'm implying that?

I have always thought everyone's advice is great unfortunately I haven't always been able to take the advice but it means so much to me when you guys/gals care enough to give me advice so I always think about it or I wouldn't keep asking. :)

In fact, there is an old post on here about advice with one of the kids and the advice you gave about me and Rick being more decisive made so much sense that we often refer to that when we're becoming undecisive again and it has helped with tons of stuff.  :)

Thanks CB!  :D   I never heard that before about Tacomas.  I told Rick about it and I've been sending him these posts too.  I think he's found some Ford 150's or 250's that he's going to check out once he gets the check from the insurance company.

Raineyrocks

Yes, I have some great news for a change!  ;D

Rick just got the totaled amount of his truck and it's higher than what we were thinking so now he's actually talking about trading in the Camry and if the prices work out to be the same amount as were paying now on the monthly payments, he might let me use the money for a Nova!  :bdance2:

I am so excited right now!

So, I'm going to go on Kelly Blue Book to see what we can trade the Camry in for and if the payments can be lower or the same for a truck for Rick.   If it works out I'm going to be shopping for my beloved Chevy Nova!   ;D ;D ;D

Rick is concerned about the sucky frames on the Tacomas that CB mentioned but he's wondering if that was for older models, do you know CB?

Does anyone know the reputation for Tundras?

Raineyrocks

Thanks everybody for all of the great advice!  :)

Rick found a truck, yay!    He's getting one from a private owner for a really good price, he went and checked it out last night.  It's selling for $1500 under the kbb value.    It's almost the same truck he had before the accident, except it's silver.

Thanks again!

P.S. If anyone ever hears of a decently priced '72-'77  Chevy Nova for sale let me know, please!  Now that we will have a little left over I hopefully can get rid of the Camry and get a decent, (not muscle car), Nova.  :)
