Fluff and Stuff

#1
Rock- Green Day - never seen them, but songs like Minority, Warning, and American Idiot are amazing.? Plus, the lead singer is a Libertarian and worked hard to get Bush defeated.
Punk- Good Charlotte - never seen them either, but The Anthem is the story of my life.? And, um, I hate their most recent CD.
Mixed- Corporate Avenger - not seen them :(, but they are the most pro-freedom band I've ever heard.? Their songs range from anti-tax songs like Taxes are Stealing to the Anarcho-Capitalism anthem, We the People (wich they do with one of my favorite rap groups, Kotton Mouth Kings).

Happy Birthday Dave!

+1!

Three favorite artists? I'd be hard-pressed to narrow it down to my three favorite genres!

It's a mood thing. I'm seasonal with my music. I'll go through a Stevie Ray Vaughn phase, or Sarah McLachlan, or a goofy phase of Riders In The Sky (western swing isn't all goofy, and it's one of my favorite genres, but RITS are incredibly talented but always goofy ;D ).

I'm always just a click away from Jerry Jeff Walker, which is my mellow/happy music (or my wild yahoo college throwback drinking music, depending on the album). When I need a spiritual refresher, DC Talk, Gaither Vocal Band, Newsboys or Alvin Slaughter will do the trick.

If I'm feeling instrumental, then Yo Yo Ma or Mark O'Connor or Leo Kottke. If I want vocals, it might be Sinead O'Connor, Loreena McKennitt, or Sarah Brightman. Jazzy, then Oscar Peterson, Earl Klugh, Django Rheinhardt (or Stephane Grapelli without Django).

And the sad part is, my music is on my computer, a few feet from the TV, so I only have a few hours a week when the TV isn't competing. I frequently use that time to catch up on FTL podcasts, so I don't get nearly as much music listening as I'd like.

And happy birthday again, Dave!

Happy birthday, Dave!!  :-*

Three favorite groups is very difficult, but if I narrow it down to three groups that I have, at one time or another, been rather obsessive over, it would be

1) Guns N' Roses (hey, I'm a product of the 80's and have big hair; so sue me!  ;) )
2) the Beastie Boys (still love them)
3) the Violent Femmes (I still run what I believe is their oldest fan site on the 'net at http://www.violentfemmes.net )

Ron Helwig

1) Monkees!!! (and not their pop crap, but the "weird" stuff, Nesmith!)
2) Arlo (of course)
3) Joan Jett
4) Tom Waits (Franks Wild Years)
5) Zep
6) Elvis (either one is fine)

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Hank Jr, Dylan, Beatles, BoDeans, Tosh & Marley.

Green Day rocks, and almost has me listening to the radio again.

AlanM

Happy birthday, Dave!

1. Beatles, particularly the White Album, Sgt. Pepper, and Abbey Road

2. Pozo Seco Singers, (Spelling?) cool harmonies, great folk songs

3. Shaw Brothers and Makem and Clancy, folk and Irish Ballads. The live in NH. Used to hear them in Jarvis' Bar in Portsmouth on Saturday Nights. The place was packed and great fun.

Fluff and Stuff

Hank Williams Jr. is my favorite country singer and I Love Irish Ballads.  Irish drinking songs are the best drinking songs!

Right on, Pat K, and TN-FSP.  ;)

I like happy and fun songs, or beautiful ballads and folk songs. I'm not into noise songs, with a buch of screaming. Never was particularly interested in Hendrix.

John

Only song coming to mind right now is HAPPY BIRTHDAY (to you).  ;D
