Concerns regarding an activist

Here's a post I hope to take down as soon as my concerns have been adequately addressed.  It's with reluctance I feel the need to inform NH freedom fighters of an apparent reliability issue with one of our apparent activists.

In October 09, a person claiming to be Chris Britt ordered a $500 ad run on the Ridley Report.    I began airing ads for ChrisBritt.org and his tax service company Priviley in early November.   Thus far roughly 15 airings have occurred.

However as of February 11, I have not received payment.

He has had three chances to pay....The first plan was for him to pay me when he ran into me at a given free stater event around December 1    This fell through partly because, although I showed up, I probably should have reminded him shortly beforehand of the get-together.

The second chance came when I requested he mail me a check on my working vacation in Colorado.  On December 19th he e-mailed that he would mail a check within a week.  No check arrived, although all my other mail sent to that address did arrive.  On December 31st I sent an e-mail informing him of the missing check.

At this point I began to wonder also if the person ordering was not really Chris Britt....perhaps an impersonator trying to discredit him?  Unlikely but you want to be sure before making accusations.  I'd never met him in person, only googled him, swapped e-mail and left phone messages.  So using the tax company website I called the number there and left a message with an assistant regarding the bill.   On Jan 16 I did get an e-mail reply from "Chris Britt" acknowledging the receipt of that company message and acknowledging the bill.  I take this to be probable verification that I am not dealing with an impersonator.

In the e-mail, he said a check had been sent to me in CO and that he would check to make sure it had been sent to the right address there.  He asked if I wanted to have him send another one. On January 16 I sent an e-mail saying yes please send.

Around Feb 1 I still had not received a check so I called him at two numbers he provided and left messages.  Two weeks later I have not received a return call.

Now I could have waited for him to go through a fourth opportunity before informing the public.   Or I could warn him in advance of my need to go public.  But that would cause an additional delay in handing the rest of you information which I think you deserve to hear now.

Having run several ads for his tax company, I have essentially taken action which perhaps makes the company look good to you.  Now that I have seen sufficiently clear indications the company may not be reliable, it's incumbent on me to disclose what I know.

I felt I should not announce this sooner however because I wanted to check my mailbox one more time on  Feb 12.  Had I raised heck on Feb 9th then found a check Feb 12th that would have been questionable.

For now I will post this in one forum, then send a link to Chris.   The next steps might include mentioning it on the Ridley Report and posting it to additional forums.  I hope not to have to do either.

If I receive the check and it clears I will probably delete this thread.

It would be better to post such and lock the thread, if it comes to that.  That way, it someone hears a rumor that he didn't pay a debt, they can find the thread and see that he did, eventually, pay it, rather than operating based upon rumor.

I'm not sure the extent to which people around here know him but he does seem to circulate in new hampshire liberty circles.

What I've done today is post info on the situation to my main youtube page.  I guess the next step will be to start posting disclaimers or updates over the ads that already aired.

I figured something like this would happen sooner or later but it seemed worth the risk to get ads on the air faster for clients.    actually it *was* worth the risk as it took two years for this to happen.  but I guess in the future I will tend to wait for payment before  airing ads.

and it only happened with a guy you have never met

The age is consistent, but I don't know for sure.  I thought he had an office in the Boston area but I guess he could be a commuter.

An accountant writing hot checks? That can't look good on the ol' resume.

Fed's will hire him in a heart beat. ;D

At one point the dude I was communicating with had a voicemail message or email message saying he was in Indonesia.

i have disclaimers up now over all his tax service ads I think.   i've left the chrisbritt.org ads untouched because no one can do business with chrisbritt.org anyway; it was apparently just some sort of 'nonprofit'
