The Post Production Facility I worked at in the DC area had an old 2 inch quad tape "portable" video recorder. I used it to make copies of commercials that played at TV stations in West Virginia and places that where still using the 2 inch wide tapes.

They had a picture of the crew that was required to do remote recordings... it took 3 people... one guy that had a camera that must have weighed 50+ lbs, another the recorder 50+ lbs, and the third guy had the batteries.  ;D All that and the video image quality sucked.  ;D No wonder most TV news used 16 mm film cameras with a separate audio recorder.
