The water receeded some, but the rain's coming down like crazy again....... They've evacuated (volutarily) the same areas that flooded last time, and there's been a mandatory evacuation of the trailer park where Kat and Russ live........Ugh! My house was fine last time, but we are fairly near a large river that was really swollen......  ::)

They're saying on the radio it's the lower part of the park.  Neighbors are probably staying the night over here.

Hmm...why is Keene flooding?  Central planning?  Can this be an issue for you guys?

Kat Kanning

There was no flooding in Keene last night.  The national guard kicked our neighbors down below out last night.  So we had three people and three cats stay with us last night.  They let people back in early this morning.

Government sucks. The city decided that the electricity should be shut off to their neighborhood.
The National Guard was hassling us last night when we went to check on their house. They seemed to think that they were in charge of us. So we had to set them straight. The guy was running away from us after Kat asked him his name and was frantically making a phone call. I guess he was reporting a "situation".

Kat Kanning

I think he was calling his CO for reinforcements.

Glad you guys are ok, was worried about you last night when I saw your park on the news.

Russell Kanning

The tv station from Manchester and the national news kept saying that the Surry dam was dangerous. When we looked at it, it looked solid and the guys that work there were not concerned.
nothing like spreading fud

WMUR has been showing folks at the Surry dam. The reservoir would need to come up another 25 feet before it overflows.

So I guess people are wondering if a 1942 dam can last that long? Is it an earthen dam?

Kat Kanning

Nooo...it's a massive rock thing with a road running over it.  I can't see it ever going over the top.  When we were out there the other day, it was a few feet from the spillway, though.  I heard they brought the reservoir level way down after that, so they'd have a lot of capacity.

I don't think going and killing innocent people is any claim to sympathy.

. . . ???

Has the NH National Guard been going about killing innocent people?

They should just go home then, instead of coming into my neighborhood and telling me what to do.

Stupid WMUR! They had the "panic story" on while Dan Mitchell on WKBK was getting real reports from the field - When MUR was saying Surry was having trouble, Dan sent a guy with a cell phone to walk accross the dam. LOL.
