4th Annual NYC Anarchist Book Fair

There's an anarchist book fair in NYC at Judson Memorial Church, 55 Washington Square South, Manhattan in the Village. The ALL guys from the metro NYC area are tabling there and this should be an excellent outreach opportunity for libertarians to approach other anarchists to help clarify misunderstandings due to different vocabularies and historical interpretations.

If we got a big enough crew, we could charter the Fun Bus and get a chance to see the city. We could probably all bunk at the HI hostel on the upper West Side.

JaxTours has set up a tour for the 4th Annual NYC Anarchist Book Fair. So far, we are taking a 4 passenger vehicle and have 1 seat left.

Departure would be tomorrow afternoon ~4PM from downtown Manchester.
We could make a stop in Keene if we enroll a client from there.
We would make 1 stop in the Bronx, then 1 at the Hostelling International hostel on the Upper East Side for your lodging, at approx $29/night - you must make your own reservation.

Saturday AM, you'd get a mini tour down Manhattan all the way to Greenwich Village, where the book fair is. Along the way, you'd see Columbus Circle, Central Park, Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Center, Times Square and Broadway, a loop by the World Trade Center "ground zero", the Strand Bookstore and any other little sights you'd want to see. We wouldn't be stopping at these sites on this tour, or we could drop you off somewhere of your choice with you finding your way to the book fair on your own steam.

Saturday PM, we can eat together, check out the club scene in the Village or elsewhere and you'd be dropped off again at the hostel or at other lodging of your choice.

Sunday AM, we'll leave really early in order to return via the Keene Freedom Fest at 11AM-4PM, then the return trip to Manchester. Service is door-to-door for just under $50 (meals and lodging at your additional expense).

Write tour@ijaq.net with your contact phone number if you'd like to take the last seat.

We can do a little FSP recruiting at the book fair.

The tour to the NYC Anarchist Book Fair went well. Looks like the tour concept is going to work out great! The book fair was very interesting - really unique - and the Judson Hall was a really nice venue, except the acoustics were lousy. Vendors came from all over, including the Black Cat Press from Edmonton, Alberta! They had something I really wanted - the first English translation of Nestor Machno's autobiography! I'll get that from them eventually... I could have spent several hundred dollars on books, posters, etc.

New York was awesome, as usual, and hanging out with the area ALL group before, during and after the event was a reward in itself. Got a suprise tour of the studio where the Thinking Liberty podcast is recorded and met crazy Nick who hosts the space for Darian and Tennyson to record the 'cast.

Stay tuned for info on future area tours... We have access to a couple of larger vehicles, so we can grow in size.

Here's Darian Worden's blog post about the book fair:

You don't want to miss this next year - I'll plan another tour with a much bigger vehicle.
