My father passed away the day after Easter this year.   I did not have a good relationship with him.  Worse yet I dealt with my very crazy and hard to deal with mom who I have a worse relationship.   Alec has been wonderful through all of this.

All I have wanted to do is garden.  So I have.
I planted 36 pansies in the front flower beds.

In the back yard I have been hard at work on the veggie garden.
I loosened the soil in the raised beads down to 14"-16".   That was a chore.

I planted one bed of cool weather plants.  Carrots, sage, broccoli, garlic, kale, spinach, beets, radishes, lettuce, and snow peas.

I put up a plastic row cover several weeks ago to warm up the second bed.
Yesterday I planted it.  I will need to keep it covered at night to keep it a little warmer so the seeds will germinate.
I planted green beans(pole), yellow squash, two kinds of cucumbers, zucchini (just 1), dill, chamomile, marigolds, lettuce, radishes, carrots, swiss chard, alpine strawberries, and celery.

The third bed has the leeks planted and the white, red and yellow onion sets in it.  It will get the tomatoes, basil, oregano, parsley, and marigolds in a few weeks.   I will be growing the peppers on the deck this year with some herbs.

I still have some room in other beds around the house and there is a plant sale in Hudson on May 3rd.  >:D

I agree.  I'm finding this gardening crap quite relaxing actually.   I went to the store and used my spending money on a couple of nice annuals to hang in my yard, one of those topsy turvey holders (a nicer one) for a couple of tomato plants.  I bought some peppermint as well.

I find it the best when I can get things from other people.  I love going to my folks' house and grabbing a few plants here and there, or a neighbor stops by with a cut-off lilac bush to transplant in my yard  =O)

I can't wait for the garden sale at the Scholars' Academy.

Thanks.  I'm looking forward to it too.
I am taking donations of stuff for the yard sale and the plant sale.

Due to the predicted rain and thunderstorms tomorrow we are moving the sale to Sunday Mother's day.
I hope to see you there.
