OK.....Old FSP, New FSP, Anti-FSP, Bus To This, Bus To That..... any of you geniuses got any ideas for getting people to come to NH?

I was thinking you could give them piggy back rides to the border Lloyd.

Dont worry I will drive. ;D

With regard to jane's idea that we should just do what we've been doing...i might agree, and might think of an internal fight as a distraction.? Except...an internal fight will very easily draw news coverage.? And all publicity is good publicity as long as they spell Free State Project right.? ?All we rebels need to do is make a couple calls I suspect.? I will call Free Talk Live and bring this up soon probably, will hold off on local media for the moment.? Maybe the bosses will be willing to agree to stand for re-election, in which case the divisions will eventually fade out.

Great idea, Dave.? I can prepare a press release about the schism in the Free State Project.? The press will absolutely love it.

No, all news is not good news.  News that makes it appear to some that the FSP is breaking up is very bad publicity.  Why not work to recruit members (yes, I know you already do that), instead?

This is what I mean about the Souter thing -- the real publicity will happen when the people vote to take the property. And it must be done correctly and without ulterior motives. The whole country is already talking about E.D. and in California they have even formed a group to ensure it doesn't happen there like it did in Conn.

Of course, it happens all of the time in CA and often makes the news there.  Maybe Clements inspired this new group?  Chances are it will do nothing, anyway.  I remember when the people of NV changed the Constitution to make sure that a large % of elected officials needed to support a tax increase before one would happen, and for no reason at all, the NV SC threw it out.

The people we're not reaching don't know anything about any of that.

I agree completely.

24 pages of thread?! Don't you people have jobs?  ;)

Thanks to those of you who have provided feedback to my post. I'm glad to see it.

I sure hope to meet you someday, Friday.  You have such great fire...and that's what the FSP needs.  Hello board...are you hearing that?

Thanks, Scott!  FYI, I'm much quieter in person than I am online.

The Board is very, very angry with me (at least some of it, anyway).  :-[   ::)   :D

We're talking about your post, Friday.  I completely sympathize.  My gut reaction is a putting all the leadership positions up for a vote would be the best.  I could tell you stories that would make your head spin.  Russell hasn't stopped ranting since your post, and he hasn't even read it yet  :)

Thanks, Kat!  That's funny, I never even thought of myself as part of the FSP Leadership, just someone who is active.  I've never been on the O-List. Not trustworthy, apparently.  :'(

Any admission from the board that there's any sort of problem?

The FSP is fine.  The problem is that the members are having a hard time getting others to sign up.  The problem is the the members outside of NH are not active enough.  The leadership hardly matters.  You a doing a great job Friday :)

Thank you, TN-FSP! But I disagree that the FSP is fine. *You* are doing a great job, and Ian, and a painfully few others, in trying to recruit new members. But it's just not enough, IMHO. We need a new strategy.

What would be awesome is to round up the people who've quit after becoming disenchated with the leadership and bring them back in.

Totally agree, but I have no idea how to do that. I suspect that any former active members who care to find us can and will do so.

Friday

Riight on, buddy!   ;D  Let's see what, if anything, we can come up with.

I hope this was caused in part by my comments in the recent Wire article.   ;)

Haven't even read it yet, Mike. But the writing is on the wall, in big freaking block letters. I'm sure you and I are not the only ones to come to these conclusions.

I agree, something has got to change.

I think the thing to keep on doing is to demonstrate how the people who HAVE come here, are making things happen wherever they go.
All one need do is read this forum, and see our public calendars to know what we are doing and the effect we are having even in small numbers.

Agree, Jane. I don't know if it will be enough, but it's a darned good place to start.

I once had someone in another state ask me if I knew Starchild, seeing as how he was in San Francisco and I was in Oakland...I said "Of course I know Starchild!"  ;D

Secret meetings are not the way to go...and any org that continues that way should be suspect.
Even if folks go to meetings as members where they are not allowed to speak, they should still be allowed to attend and hear.
CNHT meetings, BTW, are open to all, even non-members who are curious.

Couldn't agree more. I have been on a Board, and been involved with plenty of nonprofits (and for profits, for that matter). I've never seen an organization with meeting minutes as minimalistic as those of the FSP. And in my experience, it's unusual for a nonprofit to have closed meetings.

Eddie ran for the board saying he was going to open up communication.  When he actually tried to do that, he was pilloried so bad, he just shut down.  That's what he was elected for, and the rest of the leadership prevented it.

Whatever happened to Eddie?? Is he still around? I have wondered about that. It's scary how many people I've wondered that about.  :P

I think "we" should start out by agreeing to never persue any sort of tax-exempt status.

Sung, this is outrageous, we agree!!!!!

No, what's outrageous is that Sung and el Presidente agree! The end times have come!!
