It's hard to tell looking at him.

I dunno why anyone is even having this conversation.

I tried to point out to Cobb that the first thing FSP must do is disavow it's support for Logan Clements who is in bed with FreedomWorks, the group that threw local taxfighters under the bus. Not to mention that C. Boyden Gray who funds FW is best buds with Souter and the rest of the SCOTUS J's....I mean, hello?
FSP in bed with DC bigwigs? C'mon!
Talk about conflict of interest!

Which conversation?

'think'in Janie's got issues.

I remember meeting him, now, but, I have no memory of thinking about his race.  It is not a matter of race with me anyway.  Some of the nicest people I've slept with were Black.  It is the Urban Black (Culture?), I have a problem with.

Cobb wanted to report goings on in NH so I gave him the true story behind the Souter deal....which I don't wish to rehash here. I had to inform him that it was just the opposite of what he was reporting -- we weren't 'sour grapes riding on Clement's coattails' but that it was Clements who did this after we filed our petition. No matter because then FW jumped in (we previously told them to take a hike when they contacted me about our deal) this proved just what I was saying about not being a true grassroots effort...
Anyway........
Yes I have issues with Cobb, and Clements, and Amanda's support of Clements and such. And I think Cobb's article was metaphoric in that he meant we are all losing our rights now, just as the blacks were designated 3/5th of a person in the Constitution, not that he himself is black.

The FSP does not support Clements. ?Clements supports the FSP. ?FreedonWorks is not all bad. ?The FSP is not in bed with DC and it is not even political. ?Also, Clements turned to FreedomWorks to keep his um 'dream' alive.

I think that during Justice Souter's house into a government loan (park) is a bad idea but if that is what you want to do to 'promote' liberty, go ahead.

I'm attending Harvard Law School because the academic credential will be enormously helpful to our movement. While Yale Law School is slightly more prestigious, I didn't apply to Yale because I didn't want to move away from NH. Yale is ranked #1 and Harvard is ranked #2, depending on what year it is. I chose to attend the #2 ranked school, so you see... you're not the only one who has sacrificed for the FSP.

I met him at the first porcfest.
Did you think he was black?

It didn't occur to me at the time, but I guess he is.

Is that a NO?
Did you just assume he was white?

I guess I am going to have to email him.  :-\

The FSP does not support Clements.

But it looks like they do because AMANDA does...

Quote?Clements supports the FSP.

And that is fine...

Quote?FreedonWorks is not all bad. ?The FSP is not in bed with DC and it is not even political.

Well FW is a DC-based org and if involved with this, is connected to the FSP...

Quote? Also, Clements turned to FreedomWorks to keep his um 'dream' alive.

And FW will kill that dream I guarantee you..

And a hotel is any better? Whatever works will win. But it won't be by some guy from outside who thinks he is going to 'clear away local laws' that have been in effect (town meeting) for hundreds of years....or by outside forces or lawyers. The people of Weare and Plainfield will decide, in March, what to do about the article. That is how things work here in NH and something Clements still doesn't understand...

If you knew what FW did to local activists you would think twice about any inolvement with them. They are run by C Boyden Gray. They just want to ride the coattails of the grassroots, taking their mailing lists and money and then the glory for any successes as they did with us here in Bedford. Then they throw you under the bus...and cause you to lose what you have worked for after years. They are ANYTHING but grassroots no matter what they say...I have first hand experience having been Ex VP of the local chapter.

If they support Clements it will be his downfall believe me. They are agent provocateurs with conflicts of interest. But then again, why should I care? I just hate to see any real grassroots effort destroyed by outsiders..

I don't know Adam that well, but he does seem to get in the way of fsp member activism. The average member has had so little input into the content or direction of the website, that many of us get frustrated. Just because someone "works hard behind the scenes" does not make them effective.
The fsp should be open and accessible.

Russell,

Yea!!  Finally, a post of yours on this thread that I can say nice things about. ;)  FWIW, Adam will admit (and I will shout) that too little change has taken place on the website in the last year or so.  He was working on some things and then got stuck on the damned board...  Anyway, what kind of "average member" content/direction input are you thinking of?  (Personally, I avoid most of the website because it never changes and is deathly boring; I go straight to the forum--where the average member can (hopefully) say anything--and lose my temper.  Lol.)  I like the concept but at this moment can't pin down an example of how it would work.  I'd love to hear some.

Kat,

Yes, you're full of it.  And, while I found the silent demise of elections disturbing (and stupidly handled), I don't think renewing them is the answer.  Elections started in the hope that they would re-energize members; based on voter turnout, they failed in that regard.  Without making this personal (honestly), I'm unsure what exactly either of the elected board members accomplished (or even attempted to accomplish) that would make electing more board members the end-all and be-all solution.  At best, you two seemed to be no worse than anyone else.  Can you lay out the theory here?

FWIW, I don't think the current board is anywhere near perfect, and I have less than absolute faith in its ability to correct itself.  I do believe, at least, that many of the current board members care deeply, work tirelessly, and *want* to make tremendous progress.  If they fail to see the perfect solution, does that make them any different from the rest of us who wish we knew what to do?

Also, this may have come up, but while you're calling for my husband's removal from leadership, it's amusing to note that he resigned from the board a week ago.  So to the first person who says that I oppose elections because I want to keep him in that stinking, awful, godforsaken position,  :P
