Hey guys, this thread wasn't about Brigitte, Mike or Lou.  It's about the kids here and elsewhere in the FSP.

Well... it was about my kids...who also happen to be Brigitte's kids.
I guess I wasn't expecting Mike to speak for Brigitte. It seemed so out of character for an individualist.

My concern is for my children. Back on topic.

The kids are excited to spend some much needed time with me and I'm sure we'll have some casual conversation about what happened, and what their perceptions and views are concerning what happened. I have full confidence in them and trust my kids...and again, I am happy and grateful that there are people concerned enough to really care about them.

I can guess what they will say. They will say that nothing funny was going on.
Some of us had to step in based on our interactions with Ethan.

I safely assumed this was the case. My conversation with the children will most likely be educational in nature according to each individual's maturity and understanding.

I believe I could mediate most things without bias.  I can't use an absolute statement as I am human.   :hammer:

:o

I have a hard time imagining Kat swinging a baseball bat at someone.

You know, all Ethan had to do was keep his hands off those kids.  The rest of us living with them have no problem not "cuddling" them - it happens without even trying.

Mike Barskey

I never saw Ethan touch Tamber, Daniel, or Angel, though I don't doubt what Kat and John saw. I believe the kids' accounts that nothing happened other than "cuddling". Since I think nothing more serious happened, the part about this that bothers me is Ethan's apparent disregard for his roommates' opinions, especially Brigitte's. He was told that his actions were making people uncomfortable, yet he chose to not change his behavior or even discuss it with them.

Kat Kanning

Ya, I wasn't too concerned about him ignoring our opinions.  It was the fooling around with kids that I thought was the big deal.

Kat Kanning

By the way, I don't think a sub-12 year old is a good judge of whether someone's putting moves on or not.  It's not a question of the child's honesty.

Mike Barskey

When I hear "fooling around" I think of a married couple where one person has sex outside of the marriage; i.e., I think of something sexual. You didn't witness anything sexual, did you? It makes sense that you're better at predicting such behavior than I am. I didn't see it happen, and I didn't foresee it happening in the future.

Judging from what I know about Ethan and Tamber, Daniel, and Angel, I don't think anything would have happened besides playful cuddling, or play in general. But they aren't my kids and I'm not raising them, so the most I would have done (had I witnessed this "cuddling") would be to tell Brigitte and let her deal with it.

Did you see Ethan interact with Kira in ways you didn't like? Or with anyone else?

I don't either. But I think Tamber, Daniel, and Angel do know what is inappropriate touching, and would say no, and would likely tell Brigitte. I could see how they could be fooled into playful touching, where the perpetrator is getting something sexual out of it, but, again, I didn't see any of this. Is that what happened? You saw something that was much more sexual than just the "cuddling" described?
