BLIZZARD PROJECT 1.03: The Issues

The purpose of this storm is to identify the issues important to each
party or faction, and their stants on these issues.  Here's what we
have, so far:

Republican Values & Issues:

  Small government.  Low spending, as required to achieve low taxes.

  Pro-life.   No license required to perform abortions in NH.
              NH repealed requirement for parental notification of abortions.
              Partial birth abortion.

  Pro-family: majority against gay marriage.

  Gender identity bill ("bathroom bill"): has this been passed in NH?

  See a "spending problem".
  See Democratic initiatives as a "war on success".

  Value "equal opportunity" over "equal outcome".
  See a "spending problem", not a "revenue problem".
  Democratic & Republican parties not yet polarized on health care.
  Democratic & Republican parties not yet polarized on building a casino.

Democratic Values & Issues:
===========================

  Fairness.  Share the stuff.
  Being rich is unfair and evil, because it means you screwed the poor.
  Want more services.

  Oppose tax breaks for the rich.
  Promote miscellaneous taxes, i.e. vehicle registration.
  Passed a tax on LLCs.  Was this repealed?
  
  Value "equal outcome" over "equal opportunity".
  See a "revenue problem", not a "spending problem".
  Democratic & Republican parties not yet polarized on health care.
  Democratic & Republican parties not yet polarized on building a casino.

Tea Party Values & Issues:

  T.E.A. = "Taxed Enough Already"
  Pro-constitution.
  Non-pragmatic.
  Think all government is corrupt.
  See no difference between Democrats and Republicans: "Republicrats".
