You mean that social interaction is more complicated than one axiom... wow!

I remember when I referred to a particular building of a particular irrational (IMHO of course) belief system as being a monument to stupidity.  My friend said I should respect their beliefs.  I said "Hit the breaks!  I respect their RIGHT to their beliefs.  I absolutely do not respect their beliefs and will not pretend to.  That's MY right to my belief that they're spectacularly irrational and my RIGHT to express such views openly and honestly."

Though, by referring to it as a monument to stupidity, aren't you being irrational :)

Not if it's really a monument to stupidity.

They stood on their principals whether I agree with it or not,I can respect that.Play on individual words all you want.Moderator please remove me from this site as I'm not smart enough to do it myself. So long freedom fighters, I came with an open mind and leave none the wiser.

AntonLee

I had a mean principal in high school and I wish I could have stood on him.

what principles are those?  We don't want to think homosexuals exist and our readers don't think that they're up to par with us regular straight folks?

Tim L

Now you sound like a liberal, trying to change the issue.Do they have the right not to publish? Thats the issue, answer Yes. Go ahead with your righteous indignation now and change the subject again.

AntonLee

so you have problems reading huh?  The Klan was  a group that really stood up for their beliefs, can you respect them too?

Tim L

see post above and try to absorb what the issue is.

AntonLee

perhaps you should scroll up yourself and re-read what the replies were before you act like a child and cry your way out of an internet forum.

I'll go ahead and RESTATE AGAIN what people here are saying. . . . they HAVE THE RIGHT, to hate homosexuals, to disregard any article they so choose or not choose to put into their rag, to choose to see someone with  money to buy their product and say "no thanks, we don't want your money"

no one has said they don't have the right to put whatever they want into their paper.  NOt doing so, has lost them customers.  Loss of revenue in a time when newspapers are a dinosaur in the media world.

I hope they stand on their 'principals' long enough to see that they've got themselves in a hole 6 feet deep.  When their newspaper is bankrupt, I won't be crying.

btw, if you wanted to leave you can click the big X button in the corner.  That will suffice for your hissyfit and presuming that someone isn't a 'fighter for liberty" because they choose to ostracize people not for their choice of whom they love but for their choices to ignore love and play towards their lowest common denominator.

But you'd print it right ?     ::)

Tim L

I did read the previous and no one is talking hate but you.Perhaps they will gain customers for their stand, who knows? People who believe differently than you are not automatically bigots because you say so.To assume as much makes you no better than the progressives. We don't know if it was a business decision made in fear of losing subscribers, all we know is you're  putting words in their mouth without all the facts .It's OK to believe any thing as long as they agree with you right? You are the worst kind of hypocrate, the superior kind. BTW thanks for the tip on opting out, later brother.

Well um how many axles do they have?

dalebert

I respect their right to put, or not put, whatever they want in their paper and I hope people will respect my right to boldly express my opinion that it's a decision steeped in bigotry that demonstrates a profound disrespect for people who are trying to be true to themselves and live their lives honestly while harming no one.

actually Dale and I have actually seen the monument to stupidity :)

part of this issue is about whether that paper has "the right" to print what they want ..... did you guys see the poll on the wmur article? it was about whether they should be allowed to print or not print these announcements .... the poll was at only 55% for when I looked at it

I support their decision.
I myself would also not attend a gay wedding. I don't want to encourage the behavior.

Can someone confirm or deny whether this is also the policy of the Peaceful Assembly Church, i.e. with regard to which marriages they would allow to happen there?  I feel confident that I saw a statement somewhere to that effect and thought it was this thread but I'm not seeing it now.  I wonder if I'm mistaken.
