Looks like the costs of running for mayor in Manchester are climbing out of control.

How can we keep politicians from "buying" elections by spending so much money?  Are only the rich/elite entitled to hold office?   >:(

I like this one:
Beaudry holds a fundraiser Oct. 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. at P.J. O'Sullivan's on South Willow Street. For tickets, call 622-3955.

Yes, Beaudry does not have an opponent this election. But he said he plans to campaign and go door-to-door anyway.

Fundraising when he doesn't have an opponent.

Thief!

What is it with people that want to give money to candidates that have no one to campaign against?  I don't get it.

I believe "solicitor of bribes" would be more accurate.

Looks like Baines lost.  What's the new mayor like?

He says he wants to change things...let's help him get it done. ;)

Republicans elected to executive positions tend to be big spenders and as a result, big taxers.

Not in NH. It is the Democrats that spend the most.

I said IN NH. Referring to State Gov, not federal gov.
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are spending money as fast as it can be printed.

Not really.  NH has two of the best senators in the nation.  OK, so they suck, but they are still better than anywhere else.

Gregg, IMHO, has gone over to the dark side. Sununu is not bad. The two congressmen suck. Big time.  >:D

Wasn't Sununu one of the Reagan deficit architects back in the 80s?  Theory was to spend your way to reelection...?

That was his father, who was Chief of Staff to Reagan. Current Sen. Sununu wasn't in office during Reagan's terms.

No, that was the Democrat Congress theory.

Reagan's tax cuts improved the economy to the point that even with the lower rates, revenues to the Treasury doubled. The deficit came about when Congress tripled spending. (Granted, much of that was a trade-off; Reagan had to accept it to get the military budget he wanted.)
