This is one article that needs to be rebutted. Note the negative (not to mention false) bias.

Poll: Youth pot use on rise in NH

In a recent national survey, more teenagers reported having used marijuana in the 30 days prior to the poll than reported having smoked cigarettes.

It was the first time in 30 years that pot outpaced cigarettes.

Quotes:

In the state youth survey, about 40 percent of New Hampshire residents 18 to 25 years old reported having used marijuana -- the highest percentage in the country, a ranking the state shares with Vermont and Rhode Island.

"New Hampshire is actually No. 1 in having lowest perception of harm," said Metzger, with the state HHS. "This is correlated to a high use rate."

It is notable that Alcohol, the drug that the State of NH pushes, ($511.4 million in sales last year) is near  the top of the list in the "causes of death"   section provided in the link above.

Also the number of teenagers in "drug treatment" is usually tainted by the government statistics.  Given a choice between a fine, probation or jail, many teenagers opt for "treatment".  They are not voluntarily in treatment as the government would like people to think.

As an aside, does anybody know the status of any upcoming legislative bills for medical marijuana, decrim or legalization in NH.   ?    I heard Matt Simon has taken a breather and was wondering if anyone is filling his shoes etc.

Keep in mind that if used responsibly, alcohol is one of the best meds in the world.  Far better than pot, even.

The website is out dated but the latest emails on the issue said that Kirk McNeil is the new head of the org.

So in other words, people in NH are smarter, on average.  That doesn't surprise me.
