Shire Co-op organizational meeting

4 P.M.
Saturday, 8 January 2011
Liberty Books
75 Allison Street
Concord

The Shire Co-op is coming together with a few progress items to report.

This organizational meeting announcement will go out to the big list of interested people we've found over the last couple of years and we'll try to fill a couple of roles in the loose organization at the meeting. We didn't finish the selection process (of our first supplier) at the last meeting because of incomplete information, so we should be able to finish that at this meeting. It's down to either Frontier Foods or Associated Buyers.

Progress:
domain name: shireco-op.com (no site yet - need a webslinger)
email: info@shireco-op.com (other addresses will be set up for other roles)
YouTube channel: shirecoop (we usually hyphenate the word, but couldn't here)
     go to http://youtube.com/shirecoop and subscribe
"Introduction to Co-operatives" video uploaded to the YouTube channel (shot at 18 Dec 2010 mtg)

Left to go before meeting:
Get the links posted so people can view a pdf of the catalogs
File info is posted at http://AltExpo.org/co-op (not totally up-to-date yet, but soon)

Potential co-opers should think of what they'd like to see in their ideal co-op organization - what benefits would they like to obtain, what work would they be willing to do to make that happen - that kind of thing. The idea is young enough and unformed enough that you can play a major role in making it what you want it to become. YOU are the creative force in this new operation.

The other thing would be to look through your cabinets and personal care supplies and see what you're low on and would like to buy (that you would normally purchase at the grocery store). With the catalogs available to us online before the meeting and the paper catalogs at the meeting, we should be able to put together an order.

Save money - build community - have fun - run your own enterprise - join the Shire Co-op!

We've added another FAQ-type of session before the main meeting:

This meeting went great! We've finally reached critical mass. We have people filling every essential role and we've chosen to start our purchasing from Associated Buyers. We'll meet again in 2 weeks and should be able to start buying our groceries from our own co-op then!!!
