Looks like we're on track to get our first group order going and take delivery on Tuesday, 1 February!

We've got a good group of people who've stepped up to each take a little of the workload so we can all get food and household goods at a better price.

We'll meet at 4PM at Liberty Books to divide up our order and review how it went - maybe tweak the process for the next time around.

You can still join and order this go-around, as long as you select your order items and email them in by Wednesday, 10PM. Email us at info@shireco-op.com if you'd like to get the whole info packet. Otherwise, you can join us at 3PM on 1 February for an Introduction to Co-operatives session where we'll explain why you might want to be a part of the co-operatives movement and what we plan to do at the Shire Co-op. At 4PM, we'll have a session to break down our order and distribute the goods. We'll kind of review how it went and see what we might want to change, if anything, when we do it all again in a couple of weeks.

Please look over the Associated Buyers catalog we can order from: http://shireco-op.com/AssocBuyersCatalogFeb2011.pdf

A little bit of a bump in the road - we'll have a surcharge added to our first order, so we'll have to pay more than the catalog price. Associated does this to reflect the quantity discount, only they have a surcharge that diminishes as you order a higher volume over time. A little friction in the ranks because of this (because we weren't clear on it in advance), but we'll get over it and onwards to smooth operation once we fully understand how the Associated Buyers system works.

Intro to Co-ops still on for 3PM - get all your questions answered before the business meeting at 4. This business meeting will be mostly breaking down the order and correcting the accounting and reviewing our process to see if we want to change anything for next order cycle.
