Joe, what did your parents do to you? Dear Lord.

Alex Libman

I'll reply to everything point-by-point when I'll find the time, but I just wanted to now say that I certainly wish I was wrong on this, and MaineShark was right, cause... ya know...  meat is delicious!

Nothing.  What did yours do to you?

Gosh, this thread isn't very peppy anymore!  Let's see if I can make a rhyme about kale...........I'm thinking.............

Kale is green and hard
I'd rather eat some bacon lard
I tried it once and almost gagged
It sat on my plate until it sagged
I don't care if you like kale
But I'd rather stick to something like ale

blah, blah, is that more peppy?  :P

MaineShark

Yeah.  Kale isn't food.  Kale is what food eats. :)

Ok, it doesn't rhyme but it works for me!  ;D

I'll never surrender to government force!
I'll do what it takes - no fear or remorse,
No petty emotions must hold me back;
In freedom I walk, and I code, and I snack!

A dissident's footprint must be very light!
Deep in my bunker, or just in plain sight,
All things in my life are efficient and true;
You smell no poo here, you hear no moo!

Free States, you've lost me.  Alone I'll prevail!
Send no mail to my jail, and dare post no bail,
For I walk my own trail, and I tell my own tale;
Even down here in hell, I can grow my own kale!

I Like Beef

I have no idea how you found a youtube video like that Pat, but it's hilarious!  ;D

the problem Alex is that you're looking at the issue in terms of the MAXIMUM POSSIBLE output PER piece of land. Sure, in THAT SPECIFIC sense plants are more "efficient", but in real life those aren't the sole parameters of "efficiency". Problem is improving the land to that level to raise grains & fruits & veggies can be very costly in lots of places, and then involves running costs of irrigation, fertilization, etc. Whereas raising ruminants involves just following/directing said ruminants around and letting them eat what's already there. Again, Peta-tards love to expound on how much we feed to cows, but I've also heard numbers that like 80% of beef is grazing-grown - and "feedlots" are often confused with places where they "finish" the beef (plump them up on grain). They can show pictures of cows in rows munching on grain-based feed, but apparently what they're missing is that most of those cows' lives was walking around munching on barely-taken-care
-of-grass (little to no irrigation or fertilization)

And sure, when we're in space we'll probably be using plants for food. But we're not in space yet, are we?

QuoteRabbits are darn near perfect meat animals
Except that slaughtering them involves subsequently crying, rocking back and forth all night in the fetal position because you killed an innocent little bunny.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO KILL ME?

Projecting a little are we, Ed?

Ed

well, killing one would be necessary to eating it

unless you eat it alive, in which case it would taste all scratchy and hurty

Pat McCotter

Slaughtering rabbits is very simple - no "crying" or "rocking back and forth all night in the fetal position" required.

Shoot, it's hard enough just keeping them alive!

I love it when smart people argue / debate... I learn so much . Like I was unaware that cats preferred beef over fish .
