I like it. It's also "portable": the same graphic can be used throughout the state, wherever you find Porcs with saws and hammers (and lumber yards willing to contribute).

Caleb has offered to go around to pastors in the area and tell them that we can build wheelchair ramps for people who need them.  He wanted to make sure that Lloyd is ready to do this, though, before he talked to them.  Do you have time for this project now, Lloyd?  Russell and I want to help, too.

I wonder if there are other services we could offer to people who need help?  Home repairs for older people?

Building a ramp would be fun.  I'd help.

I have time.  We can  visit the site, anytime  and come up with a plan.  Whoever is paying for the material can have it delivered.  Once that is in place we can just plan on a day to get together and build it.

Great.  Looks like we have a work crew.  :)

This is a great idea!

I have a friend of mine in Derry, NH who's son was born with severe medical problems which at this point has him wheel chair bound.  Maybe someday he'll be strong enough to walk but that's not expected.  As a result my friend had to have his entire home remodeled to accommodate wheelchairs.  Rugs had to be pulled and hardwood flooring put down, wheelchair ramps put in, etc.  While insurance and mommy government did help out a little the cost to him and his family was enormous.

I'll start paying attention to how the ramps that I see are built.  On my own, I would probably over engineer it, which cost material and/or time.  We could perhaps make some sections ahead and bring them to the site.  There are probably some materials for traction that I 'll have to hunt down.

Caleb

Alright, I'll start calling some pastors I know this week ...

This is a neat idea; a great volunteer opportunity. Since I work in the home health-care field, I see patients all the time who have needed to get ramps built.

Another option are these nifty folding aluminum ramps. They can be transported to be used as needed or put in place at a home for a temporary help. I would think they could also be screwed down for more permanent use. They come in lengths from 2-6 feet. I don't know how much materials would cost to build a proper ramp, but these might be an alternative in some cases. Contact myself or your local Keene Medical Products store for more info  :)
