Nondiscretionary expenditures, such as heating fuel and health insurance costs, are driving a 2.5 percent increase in the Mascoma Valley Regional School District's proposed budget for the 2011-2012 school year, according to school officials.

The Budget Committee has proposed a budget of $21.3 million for next year. Residents of the school district's five towns will be able to voice their opinions on the budget, and propose additions or subtractions to the budget's bottom line, during Saturday’s deliberative session, which will begin at 9 a.m. at Indian River School.

Indian River School is the middle school behind the high school off Rte. 4. A Facebook event has been created http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=107388876006077&ref=ts
