I never called them officer, I always called them "Mister" so and so.

This is a regular challenge for me as a Quaker.  We try very hard to avoid the use of title and "Mister" is a title as well that's derived from "Master".  I slip up a lot but it's something I try to work on.  This is not something I follow dogmatically but rather because I believe it's a healthy habit to get into and a good policy to live by.

Dale, are you going to be there Monday?
If so could you bring a board game?  There is nothing to do but wait.

When I have one of those people on the stand I get to ask them things that make them look like jerks.

The prosecution was making a big deal about how the jail was a secure facility.  So I asked Mouseau, Is your secure facility secure?  He didn't know how to answer that.  He said, "I hope so."  He is the head of security for the facility and he can only hope that it is secure.
I also asked him if he thought my sword was whimsical or comical.  He didn't know how to answer that one either. But it got a giggle out of the jury.

How about tick-tack-toe -- with chalk?
I'm thinking of the 3 Stooges episode, "Disorder in the Court."

Little Jimmy Johnson Guilty of the Crime of the Century!

Jail time - suspended
Fine and probation - Jimmy refusing both, maybe will have jail for them :(

Tom Sawyer

Brave and principled man... Jim stood strong in the face of the system determined to extract a pound of flesh from him.

Some of the jury appeared ashamed... the prosecutor seemed ashamed.

"Group think" permeated the proceeding... guilt by association for Jim. Jurors unwilling to stand against the rest of the jury. Ian interviewed a juror that didn't think that Jim should have been arrested, but was willing to convict.

Jim Johnson

I have an angry and a disappointment... and Ivan is trying to make it better by biting my nose.

Makes me just want to holler some very nasty words ...

Instead with all of that energy, I wish Jim and Lauren well, and thank Jim for standing up to the evil government.
