Starting a free town?

Grafton is still a good idea. It would be fun to be Bob Hull's neighbor. :)

I think we should start in the town called Freedom.  What a great name to begin a revolution with.

Grunt

Heh. Leave humility for greater men. I subscribe to the John Bryant school of politics.

"Free speech is an act of desperation. It is a last resort, an onslaught of quiet fury, and -- in most cases -- an insult to, and abandonment of, vital social norms. Men who murder have usually lost their inhibitions only for a moment; but men who speak freely have lost them forever, and are thus as dangerous to a society as a mad dog." -- John Bryant

Anyhow, so how do I phrase this? Id like to be in a position to help "freedom minded citizens" make thier feelings be known in the state legislature.

If that idea expresses itself in no other way then me laying siege to Concord each week, passing out press releases or signed petitions to each and every politicians PR staffer, so be it.

I learned something whilst sorting out my VA pension. It had to do with seeing exactly how politicians interface with thier constituents. The first few times I showed up at Arlen Specters office in downtown Philly I was told to kindly take a seat and someone would get to me.

As I read my book, I listened to the receptionist take calls. Her reply was moslty "Thank you, I will make note of this and pass it on to the senator." She never made a note. I doubt seriously she passed anything on to the senator. She was hardly more then a glorified call screener.

I noticed the same with incoming faxes. She gave them a quick scan, then *crumple*... File 13! It was clear to me phone calls and faxes were nearly worthless, unless done in truly massive quantities. Within a few months, I developed a rapport with the staff and they did help move my claim along. But only because I took the time to get in and mix it up.

I also learned that staffers are the ones that truly run the show. This was further reinforced during our lobbying trip to D.C. some odd months later. Cant help but wonder if its likewise in Concord.

I was close to throwing in the towel and moving to Canada before I found "this group". Now, I have just enough faith left in the American people to give it one last shot. I plan to give it my all, and I wouldnt do it anywhere else but New Hampshire.

Hey grunt, before you go off calling me a puppet for the "NWO", don't forget how you found this group.

:P

Grunt, it doesn't seem to be like that in Concord.  The reps are real accessible.  You can call them at home, even.

Helll, there is no state where it easier or cheaper to become one!

Grunt

Yes ian, and thats why I dust you as much as I do. You have a responsibility to the movement. Clean up your act and fly right or youll get more of the same.

Yes kat, that may be the case, but imagine how much damage I could do if I had full unfettered access to the elected flotsam?

You know, actually getting my private investigators license...snapping a few serrupticious photos of (the very married) Councilman Philanderous having a weekend tryst with his 20-something secretary. Or perhaps exposing State Senator Taxandspendo during the undeclared meeting with a Big Pharma lobbyi$t. Maybe running commentary on the golfing junket...hosted by the local gambling cartel.

I am clean.  Give me one issue I don't support freedom on.  I support free immigration.  You support immigration with restrictions.  (read: not freedom!)

Dust away, I can take it.  As you well know.

Does anyone here like the idea of Pittsburg being a free town. It has a small population. The thing is it is way up north and isolated. This is bad for people who dont like being isolated, and good for those people who think there is any possibility of a secession in our lifetime? ;)? Anyway here is the link to the place if anyone can give me feedback. Thanks. http://www.nhes.state.nh.us/elmi/htmlprofiles/pittsburg.html

Dan,
I have a co-worker whose husband grew up in Groveton. They live in Kingston now, but have a camp in Columbia. They have been telling me that out of staters are buying up everything in site in that area, all the way up to Pittsburg.
I am thinking of moving to Lancaster/Whitefield area. Above the notches, as they say, but more job opportunities. My parents grew up in Whitefield.

I actually think this is a good idea. However, planning of such a project should not be done in an open forum.

I'm not so sure about the idea.  I think more could be done by seeding communities than by consolidating them.  Too easy to isolate.  However, you are correct, it is not wise to discuss such things so openly, and in writing.

Alan, a man after my own heart.  Lori and I looked into moving up to West Stewartstown a number of years ago.  Definitely out there in the boonies, but beautiful country, to say the least.  Employment is not always readily available, but inexpensive land and homes are.  A great place to get away from it all.

AlanM

Scott, I definitely need to get out of the seacoast region!! TOO MANY YUPPIES AND IDIOTS!
My brother, his woman, and myself are planning on moving "North of the Notches" in a year or two. I'm working on being able to make a living off the internet, so I won't have to worry about employment.

jcpliberty

The more of us who move "north of the notches" the more jobs will be readily available when we create them ourselves :)

There can't be too many people buying up real estate in places like Grovetown...have you seen some of the RE listing up there...really cheap houses.
