I think people who are unhappy look around and blame whatever external factor is handiest. The weather, for instance. If they're unhappy and desperate enough, they pick up and move to a place they think will cure their unhappiness. What's the weather opposite of NH, within the affordable range? Flow-duh!

I happen to love cold weather, at least when it is regular and predictable enough that I can prepare for it (as opposed to Texas "winter", which sees 90F, 30F, drought, and freezing rain all in the same week). I think those who don't flee NH weather are more disposed to embrace it, and to embrace a life deliberately lived.
