Man gets 13 months for fake breast exams

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- An elderly South Florida man has been sentenced to 13 months in prison for posing as a doctor and offering free door-to-door breast exams.

As part of a deal with Broward County prosecutors, the South Florida Sun Sentinel (http://sunsent.nl/rE5O30 ) reports, 81-year-old Phillip Winikoff pleaded no contest Friday to eight counts related to the fake exams. Once out of prison, Winikoff will serve three years of community control followed by 15 years of sex offender probation.

Authorities say Winikoff offered the exams at a Lauderdale Lakes apartment complex in April 2006. Authorities say he managed to assault two women before he was arrested.

If tried and convicted, Winikoff could have been sentenced to more than 45 years for sexual battery and 10 years for practicing medicine without a license.
