I knew to people in college from Lubbock ..... they loved it. From the freeway it looks awful boring, but the people make the town to me. :)

I disagree with you on Bobby Knight being "exceptional", unless you mean that he's an exceptional asshole.  I hail from Indiana, and Bobby Knight's tirades, abusiveness, and childish behavior over the course of his stint at Indiana University are well documented.  His inability to control himself hurt his recruiting, and led to a gradual yet noticeable loss in the quality of his program.
