FF, you'll have to excuse Varrin... with all the time he spends flying planes, he doesn't have much time to keep up with the latest news on whether or not pilots are armed.
appearantly!  There's a lot of mislead people here.  They'll either get arrested or get tired....Sure is entertaining though!

Here we go again.

Actually 911 happend precisely BECAUSE government had comanded and controled us and usurped our rights. If government hadn't been in the business of air-port security in the first place, air-lines would have been more flexible in providing their own, and trying out the best ways to protect the air-plane. The government usurped our right to bare arms. And forbade pilots from having guns. (even though air-mail pilots used to be required to have them.) Indeed, it's precisely BECAUSE government disarmed the polulous, that a few terrorists with box cutters were able to take down a whole plane. If just ONE law abbiding citizen had had a gun, or one of the pilots had a gun, it would have been pretty much impossible for them to hijack it.

Also check out the Mises article about it here.

You don't even need to talk about the fact that terrorists would be less likely to terrorize us if we weren't running around the globe interfering in their internal affairs.

And you don't need to be conspiratorial to say the U.S. government is to blame either.

It's to blame regardless.

Top-down bureaucracy comand economies are inherently incompetent to engage a highly decentralized enemy.

With that said....Which country would you model your Eutopia after?  Where is it better than here?  There isn't one.  I am not all for the Government or Bush or any of that.  I am for this country.

Um, OK, let's support a fascist police state, and actually cheer it on, simply because they're no place better in the world. Ummm, right, sure.  ::)

Szitzerland would be a good example. And there are many others, that actually have more liberty then we do. Some even have more wealth.

Forever,
I too, appreciate your service, as I assume, you signed up to actually defend the U.S. in the unlikely event we need it.

By the way, due to the supreme court ruling today, our country looks a lot more like a lot of other countries out there.

I have known many refugees, primarily Jews who came to this country, back as far as WWI. These are people who had a history of having everything they earned taken away.
Many I have talked agreed that the one advantage of living in this country that meant more than Freedom of Speech or, the Right to Vote was that Nobody could take their property without their agreement.
That went down the tube today!

Foreverfree...  apparantly you didn't 'get it'.  Your statement "pilots are armed" is misleading - almost always false.  That's like saying "cars are out of gas".  *My* car isn't out of gas and *my* pilot isn't armed.  You may find a car out of gas on rare occasion and it happens either through incredible persistance (they skipped *how many* gas stations?) or accidentally.  And that's about how it is with armed pilots...

I'm well aware of the Federal Flight Deck Officer program.  I'm aware of the fact that it took an overwhelming outcry from airline pilots to get the bill passed in the first place.  I'm further aware that the program was designed from its inception to fail for many reasons.  For example, it's designed so that it's extremely difficult to even get into the program and trained.  And once checked out, the procedure for carrying the weapon is insecure.  And, of course, international airline pilots (like me) cannot carry due to the laws of the various countries we travel to (some 40+ in the last 4 years for me).

Maybe, just this once, you could find it within yourself to listen to someone who's actually connected with the issue at hand.  I've got over 6,000 hours flying airplanes all over the planet (some of them rather large), including quite a bit of time flying jets in to Manchester as a Captain for a regional airline (my first airline job).  I've also traveled literally millions of miles as a passenger flying all over the world.  I can assure you with unmatched confidence that pilots are almost never armed.

Next...

P.S.  Yes, I just gave the troll the time of day...  and it felt good... ;)

GO THERE THEN!!!!!  I have been in this state my entire life.  WHY NH!!!!  Of all freaking states you whackos had to choose NH.....Isn't there somewhere else.  We like it just the way it is here....Switzerland would be good for you.  "We have a pool and a pond.  The pond would be good for you." ~CaddyShack

I have lived in NH my whole life and I don't like the changes I'm seeing.  The country as a whole has changed as well.  I feel like the Government has too much control and I for one, am glad you are all here.  Don't leave NH.  You've been making some good points through your events and opening up a lot of people's eyes.  Don't stop.

I will probably get flamed for this big time ... but.. here goes anyway.

I really used to be proud to live in this country.  I am sad to see what has happened and how the latest president just makes other countries hate us more.  Has anyone ever read the Poisonwood Bible?  Great book.  It's about a missionary who travels abroad and tries to do things his way.  He tries to plant seeds and the locals explain he is doing it wrong because the way he is planting, the water will just wash the seeds away.  He persists and fails.  Then he tries to baptize the locals in the river, again 'his' way, only to find out the river is full of crocs.  It's a great story.  Back on track though, it reminds me of our government and how Bush, for one, tries to push democracy everywhere and how great it is and every company should have it.  Well I'm sorry, but I don't believe that.

You can't push your beliefs onto someone..  a citizen or a country.  What is happening here in the US truly is upsetting.  I hope that change is somewhere on the horizon.

And before the flamers get started...  no, I won't leave this country and go somewhere else.   I love the country, not the government in its current form. I believe things can change.

Okay, that's my 2 cents.  Stepping off of my soap box.  Have a great Friday!

Well said!  When I think what the founders of this country went through so that people could live in dignity, prosperity, freedom...I just want to cry when I see what this government has become.

Thomas Jefferson would not put up with this.

Forever, I am a native of NH, also. If freedom means anything to you, you will see the Freeststers as our friends. Freedom is not just a word.

I think you might want to cry because you see what you life has become....
