See?  The dorks are mobilizing for their heroic correction of the impression that the FSP does something.

The FSP doesn't do anything, Kat, as you well know.

I applaud Lauren's personal crusade, but claiming she represents the FSP is incorrect.

Kat Kanning

Yes, I'm sure the dork brigade will disavow her as well.

keep in mind ..... she is not talking to anyone ..... the paper thinks that or maybe VonWinkle

Now which impression do we want to leave on people in New London? That we are freedom fighters or that we don't do anything?

I chose to side with Lauren and follow her example. She is not working alone .... if we help her. :D ? ? This isn't about the fsp ..... it is about good people doing something in the face of evil threatening government. We are going to win ..... do you want to be a part of it?

Dog ..... do you have contact with the governor yet? You seem to be just the man or animal for it. :)

Agreed.  I'm not blaming Lauren for the coverage...

What is this we, kemosabe?

Sorry, Russell, but I make plans and you don't want to be forced to be a part of them, you can't expect me to always be a part of your plans either.  In other words, you don't represent me, I don't represent you, and Lauren doesn't represent 6700 others.

Sounds like a _GREAT_ correction letter, Russell.

Russell Kanning, infamous as the "Unidentified Flying Objector", of Keene New Hampshire was quoted as saying "This isn't about the FSP. it is about good people doing something in the face of evil threatening government."

We agree...  this isn't about the FSP, so you shouldn't have a problem with the FSP issuing a statement correcting the paper's mistake of making it about the FSP, right?

Russell Kanning

Why would they do that?
I mean "we" as in people that are on this forum .... in these conversations. :)

pretty soon I am going to have to distance myself from the fsp .... if it continues to want to be a do-nothing org that doesn't stand for anything.

The fsp did a shadow ad in New London .... about how it disagrees with the ED action ..... now that one of its members is doing something about it ..... they should stand by and help Lauren

FTL_Ian

Taxpayers should be outraged that they are paying to keep this hero in jail.  Lauren's husband was telling us about her on the show last night.  She's truly amazing.  (The dude sounds very depressed though.)  You can hear his call right at the start of hour #2:

"one of the main tenets of the Free State Project is to fight eminent domain"

I'd have to say that's not too bad.  Tenets is a good word for it.  To be totally accurate you might put participants in there, but who cares?

Michael Fisher

Lauren's actions amaze me.  She is more brave in the face of this system than anyone I've ever seen. :o :o :o :o :o :o  I have to help her somehow.  I'm going to make some calls.

Can we get a group together to carpool down there?  I work today and Thu and have an interview with Larry Clow from The Wire on Friday, but after that I'm free.

cathleeninnh

What are you proposing besides meet with her? If it is this weekend, we might be able to help.

Cathleen

Michael Fisher

I want to protest outside of the jail they're holding her in.

They can arrest me for it if they want.  I really don't care.

Michael Fisher

spirit of freedom

staring in the face of tyrants
defiant, unwavering, and still
she will not give in
and some day, no one will

into the fray
you cannot control her
there is no pain you can inflict
it's never enough
some day you'll understand

you will learn to respect our freedom
or be forgotten
you cannot exploit us anymore
the sun has set
and your day is over

hope silences fear
love halts pain
dreams form an aura of courage
blinding tyrants great and small

you cannot control her
the spirit of freedom
stands tall in defiance
even death cannot stop it

as she suffers by your hand
you will wake up to find
she is just the messenger
the one suffering is you

refuse to be enslaved
show your true character
liberate Lauren
and you will be set free

I can see the headlines now.. "New London jail overfilled with Free State Project activists"

In case you didn't listen to the segment, she was formerly a firefigher with the Army, in a helicopter unit.. so they have jailed a veteran firewoman.  This is what she gets for defending Liberty?

I wonder how long it'll be before some FSP-dork issues a correction to the paper?? ?::)? ::)? ::)

???? I don't see anything in the article that even the most anus anal FSP dork could object too.

You're not looking closely, Lloyd.?

Quote
According to Johnson and Von Winkle, one of the main tenets of the Free State Project is to fight eminent domain. As described in the group's Web site (www.freestateproject.org), they are attempting to draw ?20,000 libertarians? to move to New Hampshire and ?exert the fullest practical effort toward the creation of a society in which the maximum role of civil government is the protection of life, liberty, and property.?

Von Winkle said that Canario represents 6,700 people who will come to New London to prevent through nonviolence the seizure of Fort Trumbull property by the city.

When asked about Von Winkle's assessment that 6,700 people will be in New London if the government attempts to take the Fort Trumbull property, Johnson said, ?I don't know the exact number, but I would think there are a lot of groups like ours that will be there.?

Gee, 6700 people... he's implying that everyone in the FSP will come to New London.? That's incorrect, and sounds cult-ish or miltia-ish...? ?Canario doesn't represent me, or all 6700+ others in the FSP, and claiming she does is incorrect.

Expect an "FSP-dork" to issue a correction, as Kat predicts...

I noticed the 6700 and thought it might be a reference to another 6700 people who have, actually, agreed to defend the people in New London.

I can't figure out why there aren't 10,000 people willing to go to NL and create fucking gridlock untill these properties are returned to their owners!

Although I understand and agree that many of the people that the FSP brought to NH and the people already there want to concentrate on NH things, and I understand that many of them are statists and respect the power of the government in NL, I can't for the life of me figure out why so few NH Porc's could find their way 170 miles to NL to protest a manifestation of what is probably the worst supreme court decision in our lifetime!

This is easy to understand.  People are busy with their own lives.  They have mortgages, car loans, and LOTS of taxes to pay.  If they are even aware of it (which requires them to pay attention to the news, which rarely reports this stuff, or even more unlikely, to be plugged into the Liberty movement)  They may care, but getting them to do anything about it is another story.

It's the same reason the FSP is not yet to 20k.

It's the same reason getting volunteers to man outreach booths is like pulling teeth.

Sadly, the 80/20 rule is in effect even with the activists who have moved into NH, from what I can tell.

>:(

We have our work cut out for us.

cathleeninnh

I don't think those are fair accusations. Especially from two who aren't even here. There are many things going on here and we have to make our choices. You both do a lot, I know. Some activities just aren't as visible. We do what time and money permits.
