Kelo Report, Part 2

I spoke with two Ft Trumbull residents today who both told me what they believe happened.

This is my understanding from all these video tapes and calls, and both officials' refusal to take responsibility for the order:

The City Hall normally has over 50 people in the meetings. ?Considering the subject of that evening's meeting, the City Manager probably talked to the Fire Marshall and said "Wait... don't we have a faulty fire escape? ?Shouldn't that limit how many people we can have in the meeting?" ?The Fire Marshall said, "Yes, it is, so technically we should only allow 50 people in to the meeting." ?The City Manager replied, "Okay, then my order is to limit the meeting to 50 people based on the problem with the fire escape."

Even though it had been a problem for a long time, the City Manager chose THIS TIME to order the Fire Marshall to enforce the law.

After watching the tape from the 20th, I don't know how I could come to any other conclusion.

I believe the subject was reportedly a vote of no confidence in the NLDC

Some Fort Trumbull residents believe the local media is growing tired of running the same old political eminent domain story every day.  They believe Lauren has brought a fresh new story to the situation and that's why the media loves it.

I really wish I could spend the time to inform people about this event.  There are a lot of people very upset about the Kelo decision.

I need to call people, get the word out to libertarian groups nearby, contact the national media, and spread the word on liberty forums around the country.  Unfortunately I have to work Thu and Fri night so I'm not going to have much time to do this.

I've been speaking to my contacts at Fort Trumbull and they believe The Day is corrupt. ?At one point, The Day even ran an editorial saying that the residents should give up and leave.

Think? ..... if that was their editorial .... then they are evil like the city council

The council claimed the meeting was full with 49 people in a room that's held a hundred.? The people waiting to get in were ordered off the stairs to the? council chambers.? Everyone complied except Lauren.

Clearly they do not want to hear from the residents...which is WRONG.
I could not get a word in edgewise last night, as we had two guests -- one was an unexpected listener from Florida. But this is ongoing..

Lauren and the Kelo 7 require national media coverage on Oct 7th specifically.
