You know, it really WOULD be a shame if someone with a couple bucks to spare (which I don't have) bought a nldcsucks.com (or such) domain name and pointed it towards that site...... Yup. Would be terrible, alright Then the site would likely come up in search engines right underneath the NLDC website. Yup, terrible shame that would be........

Well now, Russell was thinking it'd be better to make a website look like it was theirs, get nldcorp.com or something and make a spoof site  ;D

Actually, Kat, if you look at the two sites, they DO look similiar..... Same kinda layout except for the single/multi-page thing... Almost as if whoever made that spoof site (La Resistance, was it?) used the code from the NLDC site, but changed links and words...... :D
No matter what the name was, though (NLDCsucks.com, NLDCCorp.com), it'd be a right cryin' shame of that site was found under the NLDC website.... Might ruin whatever's left of their reputation........ Yup.. Cryin' shame.........

You know, for the most part I've liked the FSP. I've basically just ignored negative comments you guys have made about it because for the most part I thought they were doing there part, and 2ndly, at this point, they're a bit irrelevent.

But that statement by Ammanda ticks me off.

The STATED GOAL of the FSP is to cut government by 2/3rds. How are we supposed to do that if we don't make a stand against emminent domain. I mean, in California that's what the government USES now, that it's not allowed to raise property taxes, it just out-right steals stuff. So, OK the government spends only about a third less then it used to, but steals property right and left? That's OK? Come-on! Of COURSE the FSP should be against emminent domain. The FSP believes the minimal role of government is PROTECTION of property, and emminent domain is clearly at odds with that.

Frankly, IMNSHO, is she says the FSP doesn't have a position on emminent domain, she needs to go back and reread the statement of intent, because not being against emminent domain is clearly in contradiction with that stated goal.

2ndly, WHY are they distancing themselves from this? They should be jumping on it, and doing shadow ads, and "This sort of thing won't happen in New Hampshire." and "These are the types of activists in NH that will protect your property when you come to New Hampshire." and whatever.

That's what I see this as. Lauran, by leading through example and what she believes is indirectly recruiting people for the FSP.

What's wrong with her. Doesn't Ammanda say she's an anarchist? Wouldn't she want to attract radical minarchists and anarchists, and anti-emminent domain types into the FSP?

They're got such ah BIG TENT over their now, that it seems like the 20,000 people won't be much different from the current population.

I'm going to move to NH for that? I don't know about the rest of you, but when I move to NH I want to be working with 20,000 people who believe emminent domain is evil, taxes are evil, and government is evil (perhaps a neccessary one in the words of Payne, but evil nevertheless.). I don't want those 20,000 people to be run of the mill liberventionists, war-mongering conservatives (now their's an oxy-moron) etc.

Pretty soon Amanda's going to be welcoming communists with open arms.

OK, end rant.

TRacy

There are FSP members, who, actually, moved to New Hampshire, working both politically and non-politically to make what happened in CT impossible. ?New Hampshire is the focus of the FSP.

FTL_Ian

The FSP leadership is weak and bureaucratic.  They never should have filed any papers with the state.

Certainly. So why not do shadow ads.

Why not take a position that we oppose eminent domain by both the Federal, State, and local governments in New Hampshire and use it as an advertising opportunity.

Jason and a few other people did a shadow add about a year ago concerning ED in New London.

A recall vote of the leadership is long overdue, IMHO.

What would be the point?  I would be less concerned with change at the top and come up with suggestions on how to increase membership, and, if I have not already moved to NH, move.

Yeah,
It took quite a bit of explaining for him to understand how people could take your home and why the nice lady he saw at the PorcFest was put in jail. Only politicians and lawyers can twist it into any kind of logic.
On a lighter note...
He thought we were going to break her out of jail. >:D
On a darker note...
He thought maybe they would put him in jail. :'(

New London ?The woman imprisoned for refusing to leave a city council meeting last month may have been the reason for a rally held in Fort Trumbull Sunday, but the focus of the event was the planned taking of seven area homes by the city through eminent domain.

About 25 people showed up on the corner of Walbach and Smith streets to show their support for Lauren Ann Canario, a Las Vegas resident and eminent domain opponent who has been in prison for more than two weeks after she was charged with first-degree trespass, refusal to be fingerprinted and interfering with police.

?I think she said more than any of us could have said by not speaking,? said Doug Schwartz, the event organizer and head of the Coalition to Save the Fort Trumbull Neighborhood.

He was one of several speakers who touted Canario's bravery and berated the city for trying to snatch private property for commercial use.

The event began with Dan Gross, a New London resident who wrote a song titled ?Shame Shame Eminent Domain,? asking Fort Trumbull residents to step up to the microphone. None came to the microphone when asked, but two residents, including Richard Bryer, who owns 41-49 Goshen St., attended the event.

Gross and the New London Deliverance Combo, or NLDC for short, performed the song, and a man wearing a ?Death to NLDC? name tag spray painted on the wall behind them, ?Free Lauren Now!?

Most of those with a personal stake in the eminent domain battle have met Canario's protest with indifference, but at the second rally for her in two weeks, people carried signs with her picture on it, and one speaker compared her actions to those of Gandhi.

?Through your efforts, you have awakened the American people to the fact that they don't really own their property,? said state Rep. Steve Mikutel. ?If we lose our property rights, then our freedom is threatened, so we are all New Londoners today.?
