A long time ago, a guy I know would tell stories about driving this truck through certain parts of NYC. Merchandise "fell off the back of a truck", because while they were stopped in traffic, someone would run out with bolt cutters, cut the locks off, then hop in back and start tossing stuff for his buddies to pick up.

Before entering the city, he would stop and pick up a hired guard to ride shotgun. Literally, riding in front with a shotgun. They couldn't stop the thieves, but they weren't getting the truck.

There's been so much of that lately.  That thing in NY where the police shot 9 bystanders, then a hostage in minnesota or some place that ran out and got killed by police.
