IRS/Big Brother now will be the arbiter of our access to healthcare...

Can this be the last straw the starts the unraveling of the veil, the ugly truth revealed... Will (some) people resist?

After health ruling, will U.S. be ready for the law?

QuoteStates must build information technology systems capable of quickly evaluating individual applicants to see if they are eligible for private insurance or Medicaid, based on household income and other factors. Only Massachusetts, which overhauled its health system in 2006, has built one to date.

Jim Johnson

No.  The vast majority of people will submit, believing there is some greater good to be achieved.

When medical help is rationed, people still won't blame the Government's policy.

When the Government turns to the 'Final Answer', people will still believe that it's for the greater good.

Most people thinking that they are going to get free healthcare is hardly gonna foment a revolution.

Tom Sawyer

I agree (most) people will go along. We, however, can not. Not sure how it will play out if William needs emergency medical care... his Dad gets a little protective in those circumstances.

Every hospital, doctors office etc. becomes a, potential, point of conflict... "Gee lady you better go ask the doctor if he will be faithful to his Hippocratic oath or the central government, cuz I got cash and I need you to treat my son William Doe."

Some of us have our back to the wall... undocumented workers, crazy homeless people, people afraid to have their records in the hands of the gooberment. They haven't thought this one through much.

is the new laws going to make it hard to just pay cash?

The doctors will be forced to go along.
Under current law, if my wife takes cash from a person qualified for Medicare she can face fines of $200,000 and 2 years in jail.

Faux News is putting a positive spin on this...
"This will give Romney the election... Obama promised no tax increases."

My imagined worse case scenario is that if Romney were to win, the Retardicans will implement a slightly watered down version... then we just slip down the slippery slope to the same socialist program. Look through our history, the Republitards implemented and/or reinforced most all of the dreams of the socialists ie. Social Security, the Department of Education, Welfare etc. Remember the Republican Revolution? Ol' Newt and the boys were going to do away with the Department of Education... several years later Dubyah increased their budget to record levels.

Dubyah started this mess by nationalizing our health records... how long until it is a federal felony to not completely divulge everything on your doctor's questionnaire... much as it is for mortgages. Currently I chose to fill out the parts that I want and leave blank the ones I don't feel are any of their business... "Do you own guns, do you use your seatbelt, what is your date of birth ( I give them the year, my age might be important for diagnosing)... Currently they don't argue with me about the non-filled in parts.

Tom Sawyer

Lloyd lifted it from facebook... I lift it from him.  :D

For the people that hold their nose and vote for Romney... partisan fools.

For any chance to defeat the nationalized healthcare monster, Obama has to continue to be in office... then at least the "Right" will fight it.

Medicare... Socialized Medicine for the "greatest generation".

QuoteMedicare Part D, the expansion of the program to assist in the funding of prescription drugs, has now chalked up a present value deficit of $7.2 trillion, according to the Financial Report of the United States Government.
Here's How Republicans Alone Are Directly Responsible For $7.3 Trillion In Unfunded Liabilities

A law passed by NH last year:

"No resident of this state, regardless of whether he or she has or is eligible for health insurance coverage under any policy or program provided by or through his or her employer, or a plan sponsored by the state or the federal government, shall be required to obtain or maintain a policy of individual insurance coverage..."

Which is a nice gesture on the state's part, but when the uninsured file a federal income tax form the IRS will say "Thank you very much, now send us an extra $2,000 as a tax for not buying insurance."
