Sobriety checkpoint set for Manchester next week

MANCHESTER — Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in the city Friday, July 20, and Saturday, July 21, as part of the department's efforts to combat the problem of people driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs.

The department obtained approval for the checkpoint from Hillsborough County Superior Court North.

Chief David Mara periodically seeks court permission for the checkpoints as part of the department's effort to reduce the incidence of impaired driving.

The sobriety checkpoint program, approved by the New Hampshire Highway Safety Agency and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, provides federal funds to support the checkpoints, which are conducted at unannounced locations by Manchester Police officers.

Tyranny funded by Washington... one of the carrots the overloads use to control. They don't increase patrols to observe the impaired drivers performance... they infringe on the innocent's liberty. Same logic says that they should have block wide search warrants because some people might be doing illegal things in their homes.

I just saw this article (below) showing the second night was thwarted.  Warning motorists with a green laser on a building was part of technique.  Activism with tangible results is great.

See the pretty laser show in the link below.  The foreboding image almost seems like a reverse 1984 for the citizens.  I am not from New Hampshire, but good for you folks!
