Congrats to you and Mary!

It's hard to tell family you're moving away.  I think my mother thought we'd move up here for a few years, get it out of our system, and then move back to northern Virginia.  I think she's finally realized after 16 years that's not going to happen. ;D

When I told my sister, her first words were, "Wow, that's great. I hope the house has room for your mother!"  ;D

That's funny because Don's numerous aunts and uncles have this elaborate "he's your brother" and "she's my sister" routine that I can never keep straight.

A few pics. It's structurally sound, but needs cosmetic work. The only major upgrades are wiring (from partial knob & tube), and insulation.

The listing and public data from the usual sources says it's 0.72 or 0.74 acre. But the registered deed, referred to in the sales documents, shows a much bigger lot, with convoluted lines, totaling about 1.7~1.8 acre.

It may have been subdivided at one point, thereby becoming two lots, even if both transfer together.  The house may be on the ~0.73ac lot, and the balance may be a separate lot.

Congrats, in either case.  When are you moving?

Tentative arrival: late Sunday, September 30 or early Monday October 1. That's not a very good moving party day, so we'll get settled in and have an open house on Saturday the 6th.

That will give us a chance to have things like a refrigerator and stove, and actual furniture to sit on.

That will also be peak foliage season.  :)
