;D

There was a point were it was in doubt if ya'll could move...
But, I meant I didn't realize ya'll were ready to relocate right away.

Just in time for pretty foliage and then the first winter... ahhhh, the stories junior will tell his kids of his first NH winter.   ;D 8)

We will be in Texas, dang! We get back around the 13th. Hope to be invited really soon.

Bummer, Cathleen!

But, all of our little underground group here have standing invitations.

Pat's working on how to control the weather, too.  ;D

Since we decided our van wasn't up to the move, and bought a truck instead, the comfort of an extended cab (not crew cab) with 5 people for a 3+ day drive has been nagging me.

Today we went to visit my mother for the last time before the move, and that's just 2 hours each way. Mary wasn't feeling well, but couldn't get comfortable because Ben was right behind her.

First, I thought about sending at least a couple of us by Amtrak (relatively cheap, and an interesting adventure). Thanks to a badly timed route, that would mean an overnight in Springfield MA. So, we chose some air travel instead. We'll save a bit on meals and lodging on the driving trip (one room instead of two, two less adults to feed). Since Ben was going to fly back with me anyway to work on the Texas house and get it on the market, his airfare is a bit cheaper (round trip instead of one way). In the end, it's crazy expensive (to me, not being a seasoned air traveler), but it's worth the extra cost just to have the extra comfort.

Itinerary:
27 September, Kevin and Mary and John David leave for NH, with dogs and belongings and a 24' travel trailer packed full.
30 September, arrive in NH (hopefully in time to partake in the Grafton Apple Festival).
1 October, Sarah (one way) and Ben (round trip) fly from TXK to BOS. Hopefully they can catch the last Dartmouth Coach to Lebanon, where we'll pick them up. If not, I'll be making the late night drive to Boston.
7 October, Ben (round trip) and I (one way) fly back from BOS to TXK, using Dartmouth Coach to get from Lebanon to Boston Logan.

I'm tech savvy, but I'm not up to date on air travel. After looking at kayak/expedia/travelocity/etc., I found the same best rate on AA's page, so I used that option instead. Paid for the trip insurance, just in case (insurance was a lot cheaper than upgrading to a refundable fare).

I wanted to use Southwest to fly into MHT, but you can't get there from here because it's illegal without making 40-'lebenty stops and airline changes. Thanks, government!

After all that, after Ben and I land back in Texas, we'll be working our butts off to get this house ready to sell, and putting it on the market. After that, I'll just be waiting for my job transfer to go through, and he and I will fly back to NH and declare that we've officially moved.

Oh, and that we suck!  ;D

Rep Wright :-(

Jim Wright, yes. I guess Southwest couldn't out-bid"donate" American and Delta.

Russell Kanning

I don't think they do that
In fact they got started to get around federal rules
I can't believe you guys are actually moving. So did you get real work or still work for Caesar :-)

KBCraig

Still taking the king's gold, but Mary offsets it by doing honest work.

Pat K? Heck, I'll have him in my basement. It will be the underground railroad, marked by bottle caps.

And you guys can be the kings of porcfest since you live down the street :-)
