Tonight's Facebook status update, for those of you who abstain:

Dear co-workers: yes, I'm leaving. Moving. Bugging out.

Yes, really. Yes, New Hampshire. Yes, really.

No, I haven't been "picked up" yet. I'm not worried about it. It will happen. The first job I've applied for there just closed tonight, but there are backup plans.

Yes, I know: but, the weather there is just exactly like Texas: two months of the year you dread going outside and don't know how you'll pay the utility bill. It's just Jan/Feb instead of Jul/Aug. Plus, you can always do something to get warm. When you're hot, you're just hot, and there are social limits in every state about how many clothes you can take off.

When? Now. Yes, really. Now. As in, "I'm on annual leave next week and we're moving the family to the house in NH that we already bought!"

I'll be back, both to get the Texas house prepped and on the market, and to wait for that transfer to come through.

Feel free to spread the word, because I'm tired of repeating it several times every day to people who think they've overheard a secret.

It's not a secret. I'm moving to New Hampshire. And I love it!

Firewood is pretty cheap, as well, compared to running A/C using electricity.

Actually, Vermont has no "indecent exposure" law.  Some towns have ordinances, but in most of Vermont, clothing is not required.

I said "social limits", not laws.  8)

Few social limits in Vermont, either.  Well, aside from discussing capitalism in a positive light, or such... :o

Mary and Sarah play Scrabble on the iPad. Sarah started a new game last night with the word Shire, and she doesn't even know the significance. ;)

It's not quite as junky now as that pic, but it does need some cosmetic work. We're very pleased.

It was great getting to visit with your family again and catch up. I think the boys made friends, look forward to getting together when the weather lets them run around outside.

Lancaster is definitely a great town. We're going to do what we can to encourage new movers. There's no industry other than tourism, so it's definitely a BYOJ town. Internet and Verizon wireless are decent. Not FIOS, but 4-20 Mbps. Wireless is 3G, supposed to switch to 4G by the end of the year. There are some amazing homes for sale at mind-boggling-cheap prices. Many of them could be B&Bs.
