Texas cop beats wife unconscious, tries to kill her with horse tranquilizer

This happened just about 12-15 miles from me, in Hooks Texas (proud home of Billy Simms).

A 20 year police veteran, a sergeant on the Hooks PD, beat his wife into an unconscious puddle of blood, shot her up with two syringes full of horse tranquilizer. He shoved one family member and chased another into the woods at gunpoint. The wife is in ICU on a ventilator, in critical condition.
