Paul activist: NH recount moving into juicier ballots

http://youtube.com/watch?v=qwIbqdORrdA

Dan Stewart is a "Recount Junkie," a Paul activist heavily involved in the controversial New Hampshire Primary recount. He says the NH Secretary of State's office has been picking and choosing what gets counted first, and that may mean the more interesting ballots are just now coming under scrutiny. Also in this report: What are the potential positive results that could come from this recount and the heavy scrutiny it has placed on the state's ballot process? And who really controls the ballots? Dan gives us his take.

Critics: NH house bill could cost hundreds of jobs

They're at it again...will Democrat legislators pass a bill that restricts some citizens from receiving payday loans? Will they risk sixty businesses, casting their employees into the unemployment queue? And worst of all...will they do it with partial Republican complicity? Note that GOP Senator Letourneau is a co-sponsor of this recession-enhancement abomination. I didn't find him to ask, but did find Senator D'Allesandro and asked him on camera if he will vote to destroy these people's private-sector jobs.

They did. Lynch declared he'll sign it.

I don't care for the argument that a government-regulated industry should be preserved. Government should be completely out of the equation. And yet, by passing this bill, the General Court makes sure that all small loan rates are affected by the government, especially those that are black market.

NH:  "Impeach Bush" rally unites liberals, libertarians

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Wlt4cP7R_sY

No prompting is needed to place liberty activists and liberals on the same side, and in the same rally, when its goal is the impeachment of the current anti-Constitutional president. What did prompt this event was a bill at the New Hampshire State House which, if passed, would call for the impeachment of Mr. Bush. This was a liberal-led event, but I counted at least six libertarian activists in the audience. Note the Ron Paul supporters in attendance...

NH House committee votes against marijuana decrim

http://youtube.com/watch?v=JzfD1jMcJCs

Controversial state rep Delmar Burridge defends his role in voting down a bill that would have turned small marijuana possession into a mere "traffic ticket." Burridge is the rep who caused a stir in 2007 by urging a prominent Keene legalizationist to "snitch" out his friends.

The bill itself may still become law if it passes the full house against the recommendations of the committee.

"Liberty Essay" contest for NH students

Jacob Halbrooks over at NH Liberty Essay is holding his first essay-writing contest for students.  The theme is "Human Energy and Individual Freedom;" the deadline is April 1, 2008, and the prizes range from $100 on down.

I'm guessing this would be right up the alley of homeschoolers, but it appears any New Hampshire resident under age 22 is eligible.

Details are at:

http://www.nhlibertyessay.com/

This is a reminder that essays are due by April 1.  Remember that since this contest is only open to New Hampshire residents, your entry has an excellent chance of placing.
