Thanks Dave.  I put it up on the Keene Free Press website.

Regarding other forums? you need to keep an eye on forums where free state evens are discussed and make sure the facts being put our are correct.  Nothing is worse then misinformation.

Case in point:

QuoteAnd I have witnessed, second hand, what I consider an equally childish act by this fringe group. I'm interested in readers' thoughts on a group of three or four individuals, standing on the MA/NH border, on the northbound side of DW highway, waving signs and openly carrying firearms in an apparent attempt to scare so-called "Massachusetts liberals" out of entering their so-called "Free State." I, for one, think it's the height of immaturity (which, perhaps, can be explained by the fact that most of the Free Staters are fairly young, from what I can tell).

Guess what, NH is not their state, it's our state; and there are plenty of us "Massachusetts liberals" who make NH our home; and it's our right to do so without harassment.

Someone PMed me the actual details of what this poster was talking about so I posted them but it would be even better for those involved to actually post the details themselves.

CT AUTHORITIES TO DETAIN EMINENT DOMAIN PROTESTER UP TO ONE YEAR PENDING TRIAL

NEW LONDON, Conn, Oct. 23, 2006 - After serving 31 days in prison, Free State Project member Lauren Canario of New London has been ordered help up to one year pending pending trial.   Her exercise of the right to remain silent, and her refusal sign government paperwork or walk where she is told to, seem to have contributed to the "non-sentence sentence."

Canario was arrested on Sept. 22 for refusing to leave one of the properties seized in the controversial Kelo vs. New London decision, in which the Supreme Court ruled that government can take homes and give the land to private corporations.

Protesters arrived early Monday to support Canario. But, according to Free State Project member Kat Kanning, "They told us she wouldn't be brought in until 2 p.m., so we went out until about 1:30 p.m. When we came back, it was done and no one got to see her." Five-year-old protester William asked his father, "Why would they trick us like that, Dad?" then proceeded to intercept court visitors and warn them that "there are trickers inside."

Video of last month's arrest shows two police officers dragging Canario away, leaving her on her knees in the street at one point, then forcing her into a police vehicle. In a Sept. 21 phone call, New London City Police Lt. Ackley claimed that Canario "victimized" him by refusing to cooperate. "I hurt my back when I had to drag her off the floor," he said.

After the arrest, Judge Kevin P. McMahon ordered an evaluation of Canario's mental competence and raised her bond from $5,000 to $20,000. Recently, she was found competent to stand trial, and today she was ordered held until an unknown future trial date, sometime within the next year.

The Connecticut jail system received global attention two weeks ago when Human Rights Watch censured the state, in a 20-page report, for using police attack dogs to force people from their cells. "Corrections officials in Connecticut and Iowa insist the use of attack dogs is justified because they deter prisoner misconduct and reduce staff injuries," the report said. "But 45 other states and the Federal Bureau of Prisons reject their views."

Canario was also arrested during a public town meeting in September of 2005 after city officials refused to let voters into the room.  Canario refused to leave the stairwell leading to the meeting room.   For several weeks, she left the court, judge, and police in disarray while refusing to speak or walk as ordered. "I don't know what to do with this," Judge Hillary Strackbein said during Canario's second silent court appearance last year. Canario was eventually released and sentenced to time served.

Fort Trumbull residents were forced to leave their homes after the New London Development Corporation seized the properties with the June 2005 approval of the U.S. Supreme Court. The case received global publicity at the time, and supporters across the country rallied to help, but failed to stop the city's property confiscations. The remaining families moved out of their homes in August, and the city has apparently left the abandoned neighborhood standing for the foreseeable future.

Canario was on the porch of one of these properties reading a book when police arrested her.  The property's ownership status was in limbo at the time; the owner had sold to the authorities but still had a transition phase ahead of him.   She had his permission to be there but not that of the authorities who forced him to sell it.

The Free State Project is an organization attempting to draw pro-liberty activists to New Hampshire.  Canario and her husband are members who divide their time between New London, CT and NH.

to be honest, I found the FSP and this site while making an anti-MA pro-NH myspace page "mass(achusetts) exodus" . . . that was when I thought there were no pages, I searched and found nothing, oddly enough I know.

But someone in the myspace forum "NH Libertarians" directed me here and FSP. . . and I've been cracked out on it since.

so good job to whoever that was!   :)

error

Wagon driver? The FSP is a :bus: ! Actually they're getting one...

TEBON

I like wagons.  They remind me of that Oregon Trail game I used to play as a kid.

I promise you, you don't want me driving anyone in an automobile.  Ever since they widened 101 I drive crazy fast.  Just keep me to the wagon with oxen, after all I'm a masshole, and you know how we drive.

And I say wagon driver because I don't plan on moving over the border alone.

Just remember that to turn a wagon you have to swing real wide.

I signed the pledges, I'm going to be moving in the next 6 months.  Rather, I should say that if I don't get into NH within 6 months I hope I'm dead, cause I really can't take my state anymore.  Money is an issue, we're going to come up with a wad of cash for safe keeping.  I have myself and 2 other roommates so far, but we'd love to find something accomodating 6, 3 couples.  anyways off topic, sorry all.

lol wide turns in the wagon. . .they'll love me on 101.
