Explosion rocks home after officer shot in Brentwood
Massive police response underway at 46 Mill Pond Road

BRENTWOOD, N.H. —A large explosion rocked a Brentwood house where a police officer was shot and wounded Monday.

A large number of police from multiple agencies responded to the home about 4:45 p.m. after a report of an officer-involved shooting. Few details were released, including the condition of the officer and whether there were other injuries.

SWAT teams were in the area of 46 Mill Pond Road as a fire began on the second floor of the home. About 5:50 p.m., a massive explosion rocked the house and blew out a large part of the roof. The fire was quickly spreading throughout the home.

Shortly before the explosion, media crews and others nearby were told to get back out of concerns that the might be in the line of fire.

Earlier, a person was seen being taken to an ambulance. That person was sitting up and did not appear to be seriously injured.

The Attorney General's Office said it had been informed of the situation and was still gathering information. Gov. Maggie Hassan was at the state's Emergency Operations Center to monitor the situation.
