Hey is it ludicrous to expect to not break a few eggs to make an omelet?

So what if somebody's little darling has to get maimed or killed. Think of all the great technologies created, to kill our enemies, that we get to enjoy everyday! Think of all the jobs created.

Just like sacrificing virgins to the volcano god, we might have to offer up some of our young and hopefuls. The rest... the old, lazy and ignorant can feel national pride and afford the latest techie gadgets to numb themselves with!
