There was discussion last night about having this years Grafton Apple Festival.

I anticipate within a couple of days an announcement (albeit a bit late) on the where, when, etc.    Our several year tradition has customarily been to "apple down" on the last sunday of September....

To all the people that have expressed interest, thanks!   I'm looking forward to seeing old friends and friends I haven't met yet.
Your patience and interest is appreciated, sometimes we move slow up here in the sticks, so please bear with us.

We do not have a Grand Apple Czar and have found this year as a group we've floundered a bit on the who's going to do what, but again, in a day or two we'll set that straight.

if you guys can start advertising it on social media and such, then people will know what day it is .... and you can make it happen later
I have just found that helps the big city people to know it is happening
I would tell Sandy and Chris Lopez to get some word out. :)

Thanks Russell for offering to help to get the word out...

I anticipate the back room deals will be done in a day or so and we'll announce the date, time and place.  If I were a betting man I'd say it'll be 9/27 and at Hoyt, but I'm only saying that now because I have a bias and that's my personal preference.

So, everybody....hurry up and wait !  (We're building suspense  ;D)

I'll have to check with my superiors, but I've not heard of any plan for that.   We're still discussing who's gonna hold the clipboard and who's gonna lean on the public works shovels now.   I'm hoping later today after fierce negotiations we'll put out some kind of announcement.   ;D

Of course spontaneity may break out and a dozen middle aged apple pie and cider filled liberty type people could reenact "streaking" .  You remember streaking from back in the 1970s in high school don't you?  Except in many cases the velocity needed to "streak" may not be there anymore.    So if you see a dozen people "lumbering"  along naked, redfaced and out of breath you'll know what's happening.   ;D

I won't be able to come with or without my truck. I will miss the apple and the nice weather and scenery.

I still remember years ago when you valiantly climbed a wizened old apple tree to secure apples for all.

Did you ever get your Purple Heart for that nasty leg puncture you suffered from the pointy branch?  Anyway, we'll miss you and thank you for your service!  ;D

2015 APPLE FEST SATURDAY 9/26/15    12 NOON TO 5 PMISH
                                                      (reminder and belated directions)

DIRECTIONS-  To Hoyt Farm and the 2015 Grafton Apple Fest

The street address is 31 Hoyt Road, Grafton, NH, 03240.

Take U.S. Route 4 to Grafton. Grafton is about 40 miles west of Concord, or 25 miles east of Lebanon.

Turn onto Prescott Hill Road, opposite the fire station and town office. Bear left onto Slab City Road at the first fork. At the next fork, bear right, then bear right again at the bottom of a steep hill. (This is still Slab City Road.) Hoyt Road will be to the left after ½ mile. Look for the  GRAFTON APPLE FEST signs.

Hoyt Road is actually the Hoyt Farm's driveway, not a public road.   Go ALL THE WAY to the back field, you'll see where it is.

Be careful as you drive in as the people living in the farm house have chickens and a dog. Please do not park anywhere near the house or chicken coop.   Please make sure YOUR dog is restrained if you bring one.  Chickens are not dog food or amusement toys.

REPEAT - Please go all the way to the back field and do not park in the front fields or near the house.

WHAT TO BRING  - Some apples to grind into cider, a portable lawn chair is a good idea, a jug or two to put your cider in, whatever else you like to eat or drink, kids and grandma,  A happy face

WHAT WILL BE THERE - Some prepared foods will be there and offered for sale, some drinks too, beer, soda, water, etc.

APPLE FOOD CONTEST -  Strut your apple stuff and enter the "something appley" contest.  Bring a dish of something you made, cooked, baked or tossed together and go down in history as an Apple food legend!!

                                                                   See you there !!

I think you can follow your gps directions .... as long as you start from Hwy 4 in Grafton .... and not over the top of the mountain like google used to say :)
