A very good day! The weather was perfect with just a whisper of fall air during the day .

A few young families brought little kids who had room to roam when they weren't watching the apples get squeezed into cider.
By evening the moon rose and the remaining diehards stayed warm around a fire, spouted brilliant ideas and ate the remaining goodies.

The Apple something good to eat contest was a success.  Everything entered was yummy.  Firecracker Joe did lace his dish with bacon and took top honors (again  ;D) !  He made a nice donation of the entire winnings to the event expense fund too, thanks Joe!

Big thanks to Denise, Paul and Ella Vogt for all their hard work to make this years event happen and of course to Bob H. for putting up with all of us.  Bob's apple dish was pretty yummy too and if he adds a little sugary glaze next year, Fire Cracker Joe may need to up his game to defend his crown.

We missed some of you and hope to see you soon!

I get the same kind of responses about the weather. I like to call them in July and ask then what their weather is like... After they tell me the temperature and humidity are like a suburb of hell... I laugh and tell them about the Robin's egg blue skies and 75 degrees with dry air.

Russell Kanning

yea .... it has been hot in texas .... and it is getting 97 each day here in Arizona, but at least it is not humid
can't get much better than apple season in the Shire
