BERLIN — A chef at the Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility is accused of smuggling drugs worth more than $67,000 into the prison.

State police arrested Hanson after a lengthy investigation by the state Department of Corrections Investigation Unit and state police.

The investigation began after the state Department of Corrections received information that Hanson allegedly was bringing contraband into the North Country prison.

State police said the investigation is ongoing and more people could be arrested.

Hanson was arrested for allegedly attempting to bring a large amount of controlled drugs to inmates, estimated to have a prison value of more than $67,000.

Hanson was released on personal recognizance bail and is to appear Dec. 29 in 1st Circuit Court - Berlin District Division.

State police ask anyone with information concerning the case to contact Det. Sgt. Sheldon Belanger at 603-846-3333.

"Prison value of more than $67,000" = street value of about a thousand bucks. And "about a thousand bucks" is probably all this guy earned for smuggling.
