'Art.] 10. [Right of Revolution.] Government being instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security, of the whole community, and not for the private interest or emolument of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, whenever the ends of government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government. Unfortunately the government will let you believe that the constitution isn't law, it's just some old founding "principle" referenced by history books.

Merrimack is doing just that? they voted to create a charter committee to re-evaluate our forum of government.  They elected members to the committee.  Unfortunately now in April, the charter that they are putting up for the town to vote on is worse then what we already have in place.

It give the illusion that people have more power by allowing citizens to put up a petition to over turn anything the board does but it required 1200 signatures and must be submitted within 30 days of the action you wish to over turn.

Meanwhile it will allow the government to do things like change zoning or purchase property without any town approval what so ever.  They even tried to put a necessary quorum on town deliberative sessions higher then any attendance amount we?ve ever had but putting any quorum on the deliberative sessions was deemed illegal.

I've never seen a change in the Charter of a town that increased personal liberty, or a decrease in regulations. It is all a phony charade, increasing the power of the majority to tyranize the minority.

Increasing the power of those already in power. They usually don't even represent a majority of NH residents opinions.
